Brilliant! It's actually interesting to watch through this and see the general decline of the show; the toys were shoehorned in as new characters, sometimes without introductions, and the last season especially has hundreds of mistakes in it in terms of character designs and what not.
#19
Muchos Gracias. Beats watching them on youtube.
#20
Wow, what a find and this takes me back - I loved Transformers as a kid - might just buy for a bit of nostalgia :-)

Cold. Not Gobots! :p

The 1st season stands up well to scrutiny. Each episode is entertaining and there's a loose arc throughout the season. It gets a bit goofier in season 2 and there's a clear mandate that they have to introduce as many new characters as possible, but there are still some good episodes. Then it jumps to the post-movie adventures of Rodimus Prime and the animation & writing fall off a cliff. The only upside is the Return of Optimus Prime, which is a great follow-up to the animated movie. The less said about the 3 episode season 4, the better.

Then you need to get him the original animated movie that was based on the comics as well (this cartoon is not). Seems to have got a lot more expensive than I remember.

Yep, puts Michael Bay's feeble efforts to shame.

Perfect, I will buy this to back up my steel tin boxset... after my brother borrowed it and lost a couple of DVD's
#32
Bought! Cheers Op!

Year ago - and I mean YEARS ago I bought some special edition China release that came in a fancy tin-box. I still have it, but it doesn't fit very well among the normal shaped dvd boxes.

I wonder what that's worth now? Just had a nosey on ebay and couldn't find one for sale, or one that has recently sold?

Found an old review of that set I have.....

thanks OP, bought for my son - he loves Rescue Bots and enjoyed the first original series - he'll never get through all these haha
#34
Gotta agree that the last season is a bit anus apart from the odd episode - Call of the Primitives, and the one where they go back to Unicrons head, but the early ones are ace still.
#35
Prowl was my favourite autobot. Used to have all the comics too but sadly got binned by mistake one attic clearout...

Great deal again Op!

I'm quite sure its in one of the extras but they point out that post-movie episodes were primarily based on alien worlds as a money saving exercise. Desolate planets are cheaper to draw and colour than a vibrant planet like Earth.

Do yourself a favour. Sell your modern films. They Are all ridiculous especially the latest one. And buy this. Great value well done op.
