I'm not convinced that is actually an open return. I know the search options suggest it is, but the £10 fare doesn't mention anything about it being a return - and it clearly wouldn't come under this promotion.

Good spot, I found a £20 return that would normally cost at least double that...
...only problem is the time it takes...pretty much double the time it takes on the train

It's a coach not a bus. When was the last time you sat on one? Not only is there more room than a general train seat but the seats are also of better quality.
So not sure what you are comparing this to unless you want to drive yourself!

Of course many journeys will take longer than a train though but sometimes not much longer and it's overshadowed by the huge cost difference.

Fancy going on a coach trip? We might even get Breden as our guide.

I have used this twice to travel within the UK for £10 open return and I can confirm that it works. Not sure about trips to Europe though.

Just booked from Coventry - Heathrow for 4 of us return £89 bargain !

Used Megabus last time, then National Express from Victoria to Heathrow... but this offer beats that price !
#28
least your guarenteed a seat with this too unlike with our railways!Did London on a similar deal last year with a cheap travellodge. No congestion charges,no long drive, people were generally better behaved than drunks you get on trains just dont sit near the toilets

Their website is a little confusing. Let's say you search for Amsterdam open return, you are then presented with a page to select your outward bound journey which costs £10. It has an open return/same day return price of £109 in the right hand box. It does state that you ring up to arrange a return bus once you have decided which one you want. I don't believe that you'll be entitled to travel on the return coach unless you choose the option for £109. Would have to ring the company and see, but pretty sure £10 will only get you one way. Wouldn't want to risk it and get stuck there!

P.S. Tried to choose a single journey for Amsterdam back to the UK, but Amsterdam is not recognised. I'm guessing you must select a UK town/city as departure place.

If you can spare a bit more time, National Express are generally excellent value (unlike the trains). As a comparison, a journey booked a week before travelling from Norwich to London cost me £12 one way (I think this is the most I have ever paid) vs £43 one way on the train - both journeys took three hours (due to weekend rail works).

Hot from me.

I can't say I've ever been on a National Express coach with more legroom than a train. The Greyhound is certainly better than a train, but I'm yet to be convinced on National Express. Though at £10, I really couldn't care less!

it depends where you live i guess i live in leeds and theres a service to london every hour ba 1 stop or 2 at the max its a great service if you dont mind being on the coach for a extra 1-2 hours ...i would rather do that and save at least 80 pound ... leeds london return on the train is 80 pound plus unless u can get obcene times then its 50 return ...coach from leeds to london 20 pound return ..

most of the coaches have been updated now the ones ive been on recently all have had black leather seats great air conditioning

just 1 problem .....THE DRIVERS !!!

Only 1 stop in my area and it only operates for 1 day per year, not really a good deal for a return ticket,
work that one out

You obviously haven't sat on a virgin train recently as you will find that you have more room. Plus you can get up and have a good stroll. I'd rather pay the extra for a train and get there in a decent time.

It depends on the journey, sometimes National Express is more expensive than the train, even on routes where there are direct services and you'd think the coach would be cheaper.

Has anyone bought a £10 ticket to Europe on an open return? Someone says it worked in the UK, but I'd really rather not be stranded somewhere like Amsterdam where I'd have to spend almost £100 on a walk-up fare to get home!
