Travel to Gatwick for £5 + £1 booking fee via the Thetrainline.com

For anyone going on a budget holiday that need's to travel by train to Gatwick and don't want to pay the Gatwick express prices, go to the Thetrainline.co.uk and enter leaving from " London Victoria " going to Gatwick airport then chose your date(s) & travel times and the amount of passengers, click the "search" button then you will be given a list of trains ( you can choose later of earlier trains from this window if the times don't suit you ) then click " get ticket prices" and you should see prices starting from £5 for a single journey, you will incur a £1 booking fee on your total.
I just booked up 2x adult tickets ( both singles )from London Victoria to Gatwick airport on the 19th May and the total cost plus £1 booking fee was £11.00, I hope this helps someone :-)

Ok, the Pros and cons

Pros : work's out around £9.20 cheaper than the Gatwick express
: Has the same travel time has the Gatwick Express ( 30 - 35 Minutes )

Cons : There will be a few stops on route to Gatwick Airport
: You must travel on the train you have booked or you will lose your booking and have to re-book

P.S. I know this has been posted before in the past but i thought a reminder would not go a miss as most are starting to look at booking holidays around this time and we have had some cracking deals on holidays on Hotukdeals in the past few weeks :-)

Yes, this is an excellent deal also available through the actual train operator www.southernrailway.com

Remember also that you can get further 16-25, Disabled, Senior or Forces discount which will lower the single fare to £2.80 on certain services. Apart from "London Victoria" similar prices operate from other stations in the region such as East Croydon, Sanderstead etc.

The Southern deal has operated for some time and does NOT expire on 10 May

The Expiry date was placed for 1 year later as i am sure prices will change within the 1 year period i set
