VOTED HOT! GREAT DEAl!

I booked a few weeks a so to go from stoke to london on a Sunday.
£8.50 for two people.
Cheapest train tickets were £67 for both of us.

Thats a saving of nearly £60!

And on a sunday the coah will get us there as quick as the train (4hrs) as trains travel slower on Sunday apparantly.

However i got the return journey on the train for £31 for both of us, decided it was worth the extra to be able have extra half day in london and its faster (will only be just over 2hrs.)

Only thing i would mention is you can only book upto 8 weeks in advance.

Imagine coming down from Leeds to London and seeing electric light for the first time - all for the price of a month and a halfs wages!! eeeeh, reet good is that!
#16
megabus is awful. Overcrowded, small seats, no leg room, too hot / too cold, Staff are not kind etc etc.

i once got thrown off the bus for having too many bags (i had 3 but i was travelling at an off peak time, there was 5 other people on this double decker) and they claimed there was no room for anyone elses bag. No refund. Had to pay £40 for a train instead.

You can go aberdeen > London for £1 + 50p. Question is, why would you want to go for that long on a bus

This is a great deal! A trip to London in November from Manchester is £2 return. Trains are £25 at the very very least, it just takes a couple of hours more!!

There is nothing wrong with public transport Rich G! We can't all afford private Jets!

They do say quite clearly on their site its one piece of lugguage per person.

With megabus you get what you pay for - a no frills bus trip to London. I paid £5 each way, for that price I expect a seat and the bus to arrive at its destination in one piece.

I went to London on megabus and had two different experiences. The way up was an early morning trip and was fine, double decker bus, not overcrowded at all so we could spread out and relax. The way down wasn't so great. It was a single decker bus, more busy (but not packed), and was at the end of the day.

From what I've gathered, they don't clean the bus at all inbetween trips (toliets included), so if you can, get a morning bus as its likely to be far cleaner. by the time we came back in the night, the toliet was pretty grim.

Last time I went to London on the train it cost me £70 and really wasn't much better

I went from Leeds to Inverness my megabus the other month. Yes the seats are kinda small, leg room is probs the same as a standard bus.
Staff were amazing. I left a £100 mobile on there which ended up in Dundee :w00t: and were so kind to get it put on the bus to Inverness the next day.

Can't fault this deal though:thumbsup:

Great deal, and I'd love it.... if there wasn't that gigantic gaping void where Essex should be... Not one stop anywhere near other than driving 40 miles to Cambridge or London!

Why is this? Do they think people in Essex would probably rather drive their modified escorts than take the bus and so don't bother?!?! :-D

I am over six foot tall and my knees are jammed into the back of the seat infront on a megabus - not comfortable

i was on a megabus recently also and a german man had asked the driver to inform him which stop to get off and transfer at. The driver never did and he ended up 100miles north of where he was supposed to get off before the driver said anything.

It's not a "deal" though, it's just hte normal price.
#23
I wouldn't call this a hot deal when it's basically what the company does all the time.

It would be like posting a link to Poundland (or similar) because they sell stuff for a quid.
#24
Wow is this service for real? I could easily get a train to Chester, and get on the bus there to get down to London for a £1!

Has anyone used them before? How does this company stay afloat?
#25
Thankyou, i am going to take my daughter to London for the day over half term.

By not selling all seats for that price.

By cramming you in like anorexic sardines.

By using the oldest, crappest busses they can.

By never cleaning them. Ever.

By scraping in as much cash from "booking fees" and premium rate phone lines as possible.

i have been on one.

it was a normal sized coach, so there was no cramming.

it looked clean to me

you can book online, so no premium rate calls.

megabus part of the stagecoach empire ie scum

This is not a hot deal, this is the price that it starts "from" and is always at this price. This is what megabus do.

Agreed not sure why it's been voted up. Maybe lots of people didn't know about it but I find that odd..
