For info this months Which magazine states that section 75 doesn't apply when using this card.
Terrible reviews for the app on Google store. People complaining of having extra charges. I'll wait and see until the product is mature
gorgo2015
Does it work for online payments or only in store?
It works for both online and physical payments, but if the place of supply is deemed to be the UK, a charge will be incurred.

Travelex Supercard is back - but not as good as the pilot

Travelex's SuperCard is back but not quite as good as the pilot as cash now costs 2.99% purchases are still free. It uses MasterCard rather than visa now so rates may be slightly better than before…

Revolute is better than Supercard, except in Thailand & Russia where they can't be bothered to monitor FX properly so instead add a hefty charge.
888eyeball
cool just in time for my travel to Asia :D

No good in Thailand for payment in shops, restaurants etc, need a pin and Thailand mostly uses signature. ATMs should be fine.
OK I appreciate your £120 a year bank account provides more features than the free supercard, but others may find the free insurance useful if they are caught out. There used to be a website you could use rather than the application so hopefully that will come back.

Regarding the ATM fee - I agree that is a shame, but its still cheaper for purchases, costs nothing and can be linked to a points visa or mastercard. I'll still use but will have another card for cash etc. IIRC Nationwide is only fee free in the EU?
#58 and it is still a waste of space as overseas cash costs money to withdraw and the app still will not run on a tablet and I get full, rather than limited, travel insurance with Nationwide. It will be interesting to visit this thread in a year to discover whether any of us have actually used the "new and improved" Supercard. I suspect I might be close to the top of the list of those that have only used it to scrape ice from car windscreens. :)

p.s. - OK, Nationwide costs me £10 per month but provides us with much more than £10's worth of monthly insurance. The main things are worldwide comprehensive travel insurance for my wife and myself, UK+Europe breakdown insurance for both our cars and comprehensive insurance for our mobile phones.
hmm they are adding basic travel insurance from Sept 21 see Appendix B here: https://www.travelex.co.uk/media/3282/supercard_terms_and_conditions_14072016.pdf

by leaving money in my current account I earn 3-5% interest so would loose this toping up a pre-loaded card. revolute limits spend to £500 per month before it starts charging a fee, I tend to take a big annual holiday in which the hotel alone takes this much without any other spending. This alone means Revolut would have to be used with something else and it says they may start charging after 1 year
Revolut also have a proven track record, it's hardly difficult to pre-load a card through an app, and then withdraw what remains directly back to your debit card. If you know anything about this part of the financial industry you will know that all client funds are ring fenced i.e. if the firm goes belly up your money is safe.

If you're happy paying a poor exchange rate when the true interbank rate is on offer then that's up to you.
benlondon
Why not just use the revolut card, you get the interbank exchange rate and no fees also, you can't get a better rate than that
1. Travelex has a proven track record.
2. You have to preload the Revolut card. The Supercard takes only what's spent, when it's spent.
Why not just use the revolut card, you get the interbank exchange rate and no fees also, you can't get a better rate than that
I just got details today confirming the new card has launched. Haven't read all the small print yet but it does say foreign transactions are free but they will now charge an ATM withdrawal fee at 2.99% so I think I prefered my trial version but will still use this. I prefer to use this than apply for different bank accounts that might not give me the interest rates of my current accounts.

Looks like it's gone up to 1.374 Euro/GBP
However I bought some Euros this morning using Eurochange at 1.3725 so not really that fantastic a rate

ye. no1currency are at 1.3736 too although I went for travelex in the end still the best rate for today, plus they offer 0.5% cashback in quidco, so another few quid off depending on how much you order

Plus free delivery on £500 or more, no1currency is collection only at least 2 days later

should of checked eurochnage, can get the rate upto 1.3780 :(

Sorry guys, I dont think I spelled it out - the link will show their current but they only change during the happy hour period. I would expect the rates to improve by 2-4%, so that should beat the moneycorp rates. We can really only tell over that period.

Can see the title updated, thanks for editing.

Has June been confirmed? I thought it was just "This summer" and the end of the pilot is 7th June.

Dont forget TCB and the price match, its easy enough to do and matches the best online rates which don't give you the guarantees Travelex provide.
Not the greatest this time. changing 1000£ to US$, only better off by 3.7$, lets hope Scotland stays with GB and the $ goes back up again

Furthermore travelex ARE indeed clowns that in 2014 can't even operate an effective eccomerce operation.
7.5 hours later and no email confirmation. No one at their call centre knows what the hell is going on so the only way to cancel is by doing a chargeback through your bank. Great. Welcome to the 1800's
Maybe it was. Maybe it wasn't. But for me your post was a mistruth.
And what has Friday got to do with today's happy two hours? It was 1.6541 on moneycorp on Monday. So what?
No one claims travelex is the best day in day out. Frankly I find anything you say now difficult to believe. I am sure travelex did not change the rate DURING the happy hour promotion so perhaps you need a new watch (and a specsavers deal)

1. I was generally impressed with ease of use and accessibility of my pre-loaded Rand Passport whilst in RSA & surrounds. However, obtaining an account balance proved problematic, especially if you don't have access to the Internet. This could prove embarrassing and thus is cause for concern, which could be easily avoided if an a/c balance was provided.
2. Hey guys, how about more regular 'Happy Hours'; it's thirsty work out here!! Cheers!
I can get 28Euros more using Travel-Premier on a £1200 spend so cold from me.
Sadly they're still being beaten by some online-only dealers for Australian dollars, so this isn't too great of a deal for me after all. Oh well.
Dforden
yeah, that'll be good. $1.52 instead of $1.51, amazing. Especially when the market rate is currently $1.56.

'commission free' yeah, right.

I actually think they have pretty good rates...amongst the best if you buy in advance actually...
I too have voted hot, because I will be buying my Australian currency tomorrow if this gets Travelex to the top of this page:

Guys...the rate getting higher means you get less GBP for your Euros when you sell them back.

LOL! Correct. Buy high sell low! I'll get back in my box.
Euros aren't getting higher, the pound is.
Guys...the rate getting higher means you get less GBP for your Euros when you sell them back. Sherbolton you should just stick with what you got as you will get less than you paid last month.
Unless you think that the rate will go up further and also goes up enough to cover the difference between buy and sell and the commissions you usually have to pay.
And as greece will have another vote in a few weeks time with anti austerity parties most likely the winners...that could easily happen...anyone got some old Drachmes at home? :3
sherbolton
Would this mean it's a good time to take my euros off my travel cash passport or will i end up getting less than what I paid for them last month

I think you always get stuffed when you sell currency back because the rates for buy and sell are so far apart. It should be better for you selling back than it was last week. If you can afford, it's probably better to hang on and use for next holiday. You get nothng much in interest if you convert back to £ and put in the bank.

for anyone interested, last time this was on when i picked up my money at the airport they offered to sell me more money at the same happy hour rate - which i accepted - so you can just change £10 now and then decide at the airport how much you actually need and you still get the same happy hour rate
Always found them very good, .They do Quidco as well and also have a price promise which basically matches anyone else including Thomas Exchange who always have the best rates even if they are just online. Just take a screenshot and email it to them and they refund the difference. Great value and helps that you can pick up at the airport if needed. Hot.
However, not going to buy just yet, I'll wait and see for a bit as to the direction the Euro is taking....

Try Thomas Exchange Global. I have found they nearly always have a better price. You could always get Travelex to price match with them.

made the mistake of using TGE , sent bank transfer for 4k. Having got no confirmation of them dealing with my order i called them, staff didnt want to know, a couldn't care less attitude... really rude. I was going out of my mind for 4 days because they couldn't tell me where my money was. I got my money in the end, it turned up in the post but ive still no idea what the mix up was. Never again, id rather pay more to feel safer. Awful company.

But if the rate goes worse you get the rate you placed your order at (_;)
