B & Q treated decking boards only £1.98 each

size 25mm x 120mm x 2400mm

Look decent and couldnt tell difference between these and the £4.98 ones.

Had pallets of the things outside the doors at Bolton B&Q so don't know if it is local deal or not.

Barcode is 0525 7751.

They had these at Stretford (Manchester) B&Q - I asked the guy what the difference between the 2.98/2.99 and the 1.98 ones are, and he said the 2.98 ones are that price all year, and the 1.98 ones are normally a lot more expensive, better and less likely to crack. He didn't even know why they're on offer or how long but said buy them, while you can as it's very unusal for them to be that cheap!!

(I was looking to make some raised beds, but ended up buying their £20 raised beds kit, which scanned through at 14.99!!)

I got banned from my local B&Q trying to get this deal. I was wandering round the garden centre, when this guy in an orange apron came up to me and asked if I wanted decking.

Of course I got in there with the first punch, but then they said I was no longer welcome in their store :(

This was advertised in a flyer placed in national press newspapers last week for the 15% off event last weekend. In the small print under the price for these deck boards it said this offer will be on until 24th April 2010. Hope this helps.

I bought 30 of these boards at the weekend. Got them with 15% off so got them for £1.69 each!!!

They came through the till at £1.98 but took the receipt to customer service and they said it should have been reduced by 15% and gave me the difference back

Looks great and just as good as boards I paid £6 each for a few years back.

Fill your boots!

PS their tanalised joists are also some of the cheapest around at £4 for the 4x2 inch size. I paid £5 from a local timber merchant and thought that was good then saw them cheaper in B & Q.

I bought some of these recently when they were priced at £2.99 with 25% off , so a little more than they are now but not so much that I'm bothered by it.

There's a few reasons why they are cheaper than the £5 ones though. Firstly they are smaller , both in width (120mm V 144mm) and in depth - (25mm V 29mm) so you will need more to cover a given area and they will flex more. You can counter the flexing by using more joists but then you lose some of the savings. Secondly , the quality control isn't great. At least a third of the planks I looked at had really bad knots in the wood , holes or chunks missing from the edge.

If you don't mind sorting through the pile to get enough "good" boards they will do the job just fine - my garden looks much better now that I've replaced the old scruffy decking.

Great for making planters as well I will be getting a few of these.

I boarded out the sub floor area in our house for storage with these last year, leveled off put down a membrane, I paid around £4 each and I though that was a bargain.

I got these last year, as far as I can see they just get a job lot in around this time of year and then throw on the 15% offer on top. Bargain :)
