Might be the first of many but CycleSurgery are doing the What Mountain Bike bike of the year 2010 at £1799 instead of £2000. This is the cheapest around for this by a long shot.

All Trek are only available instore but worth a chat with your LBS as many of the bigger ones (Evans/Rutland/J E James etc) will price match.

Some blurb here:

Trail Performance, Patented

Like nothing else on the trail. It's our do everything, full-suspension trail bike that's equal parts efficient climber and commanding descender. The Fuel EX 8 comes equipped with proprietary DRCV shock technology, for a bike that feels just as capable as longer travel bikes.

Good bike i own an EX7 2008 have upgraded a few bits wheels, hubs, seat and handle bars since buying but remaining components are as original having to replace fork seals at the moment but only a small job all information on SRAM website for a lot of service work with video's on 'You Tube' i give my some considerable abuse though and it takes it. Well balanced bike gives good confidence when riding and good suspension travel for those xc jumps.

I know this a very expensive push iron and very niche but it is £200 cheaper than I've found it anywhere else. I currently have a 2009 EX6.5 so can't justify it - I can however dream...
