Can anyone help me out: will this work instead Virgin Super hub 1? Anyway i won`t use wireless.
I can`t access Virgin Hub settings to switch off wireless, it worked before..
192.168.0.1 enter, and nothing... The connection has timed out...

That's a bug with the original super hub. Version 2 doesn't have the issue.
Turn off the router at the wall and once it's back it should work.
You can use modem mode on the super hub and use this, but I don't recommend it.

No, it's not ADSL. You could connect it to a modem but not really worth it.

That's a bug with the original super hub. Version 2 doesn't have the issue.
Turn off the router at the wall and once it's back it should work.
You can use modem mode on the super hub and use this, but I don't recommend it.


Try 192.168.100.1 it may already be in modem mode.
Apart from that do a reset.

unplug the power and try again, mine does this all the time - it really is a crock of crap

Or you can go to control panel hardware and sound devices and It should show up there too

Should be 192.168.0.1 If in router mode

This is not an Extender and cannot be made into.

And yes Sir Charles it would work they your wanting it as we do the same.

Yes, just turn off the dhcp server and change its IP to one that is suitable.

For £2 -£3 more you can get a decent ADSL router. Depends on what you are after. (Amazon)

you can turn any wireless router in an access point by using the same ssid and password (different wireless channel) and switching it to dhcp client. obviously connecting it to the net gateway box (modem).

Access points are better than "extenders" as extenders increase lag and also potentially reduce speed

I don't wish to aggravate an already fraught discussion, but having worked in a company which designed, made, sold and supported hi-tech products I'd say "fulfillment" (making sure the product reached the customer) was still part of the sales process. Different companies will do this differently, but logistically it makes sense to do it this way from a point of contact perspective. Up to the point the customer actually physically unpacks the item and reads the support documentation - which includes warranty, post-sales support contact information, etc, their communications with the supplier has only been with "Sales", and Sales should do any follow-up to make sure the customer has what they wanted.

But that's splitting hairs. The fact is that if a company sells you something which doesn't turn up and then doesn't respond to your concerns it's simply crap service in anyone's language. And yes you are absolutely right - Amazon tend to handle these things (including after-sales) better than a lot of people.

Although I feel that things such as Dead on Arrival, Returns, Technical support, scheduled maintenance (cars etc), parts, consumables (printers etc), security or software updates and so on - are all part of the aftersales process. Far more than just "warranty" as the original respondent said.
