First broadcast in 1984, post-apocalyptic adventure The Tripods remains one of the UKs best-loved science-fiction series. This DVD set contains both series of The Tripods as well as fascinating extra material.

The year is 2089. An alien race stalks the land in towering machines known as Tripods. They have taken over the earth and enslaved mankind with a mind-controlling device, ceremoniously implanted at adolescence.

Will Parker, desperate to escape this ritual, leaves the village with his cousin, Henry and attempts to link up with the human resistance movement. On the run, their life is fraught with danger as they try to elude the giant machines and the Black Guard, the aliens human servants. On a thrilling journey, their adventures take them to the ruins of Paris and on through Europe until, eventually, Will infiltrates Tripod City itself a perilous world of Masters and Cognoscs

Loved this series when it was on, very tempted, cheers op

This could really use a BBC remake now, as the special effects would cost much less and look much better. Also they should complete the series this time.

hum - dubious - I preferred original triffids tbh... - Tripods was utterly superb - but such an abrupt ending (or killing of funds as I recall). If they remake, they must commit to doing the whole trilogy - not just the 2 series...!!

oh - and keep that classic tune!!

I would recommend going with Amazon for £12.88 as Zavvi is very poor in terms of delivering orders. I had two cancelled before Christmas - one as they never got around to delivering it after 3 weeks with them and the other because they reckoned that although they had stock, the original price they charged me was a 'promotion' and as such they could only sell limited stock at the lower price!

Original triffids tinkles from a great height on the modern one, which was done in the style of the modern Survivors if you ask me, which I also class as pap-TV.

Tempted to watch this again though....

If anyone is interested the original model maker for the Tripod models can be found here: http://www.martinbowersmodelworld.com/

The original was nowhere near as funny. The new one was supposed to be a comedy, right? Eddie Izzard was hilarious! :-D

Ken (Freeman) sold his cds from his website directly, No idea if he still does but he's a very friendly and all round top bloke.

And they're always floating around on eBay

I think your getting confused with Day of The Triffids perhaps.

And I'm actually in it... albeit for a couple of seconds as Will attempts to walk past me and steps on my foot in the process... consummate professional (school kid) I don't even swear (aloud!)

Thanks for the tip wanted this for a while!
