You go for KW rating not pressure . Pressure is pre determined by your incoming supply

Personally wouldn't buy anything under 9.5 Kw . Although you may have to if your supply cable is not big enough

Just bought a like for like replacement for the aspirante model 9.5k that died due to limescale. Was from plumbworld for 105 so this seems like a good price but the extra power of 9.5 is good in winter

Does the KW rating just determine how hot it can get? I guess it might heat the water quicker from off? Our shower we never have even half way because it gets too hot and I'm sure its only about 8KW if that. I think ours is on the way out so might pick this up. Thanks

I've had this shower for 5 years before I moved, good shower for an electric, had Triton to swap out the heater pack on it and the chrome edging loses its colour and she patchy black but that's a known issue according to the engineer

So it's the cable that's connected to it and how hot it can get, more for in the winter but I have the 8.5w and had no issues, I don't think there is much difference between them really

Your partly correct.

The cold water entering the unit is heated by a filament which is controller by your thermostat ( the knob which controls temp)

The higher the kW the hotter the filament can get. Therefore heating water to a hotter temp faster.

Now using a little physics the higher the kW the hotter the filament therefore more water can be heated in the same time as a lower kW. Therefore if your supply is good enough your pressure should increase as unit with a higher kW is able to heat the water to the correct temp faster than a lower kW.

Again if ur supply is not good enough there is not enough flow to cover the filament, the filament will get too hot and cut out or blow.

Seems like a decent deal, although have had issues with our triton shower with the guy who came to replace the unit the first time we had issues with it claiming that he's experiences a lot of issues with triton showers. Currently we're having the bathroom entirely redone due to the opportunity of it not working the 2nd time with a new shower along with everything else. Ignoring the issues, it felt like a decent shower.

Your partly correct.

The cold water entering the unit is heated by a filament which is controller by your thermostat ( the knob which controls temp)

actually, unless you have a REALLY fancy shower the power going through the heating element(s) will be fixed (the power setting separate to the temperature knob can switch elements off, usually 2, 1 or none).

the temperature knob works by varying the flow... the faster it goes the colder the water is as it has less time to heat up (also the element will be cooler as the faster water cools it more).

More power means the shower can heat to whatever temp you want in less time hence more pressure at the shower head.

Usually the only thermostat will be an overtemperature safety cutout.

My experience with cheap Triton showers is 1. their variety of connects is amazing - meaning its quite easy to find a Triton to replace an existing shower matching existing power/water feeds 2. (the cheap ones at least) are built to JUST last the warranty;

Got one of these in the flat, have to say the pressure is naff, but I've heard this is to be expected with electric showers.
