I have 6mm cable and a pretty long run of cable at that, so I'll stick with 8.5KW, thanks.

That is a real bargain for anyone who needs one of these. Well spotted.

I've never know these things to produce anything other than a poor shower. In the summer, when the incoming mains water isn't too cold, they can be just about useable.

However, in winter, with very cold incoming mains, they're useless.

Are you certain your existing shower is 8.5kW ?
Some of old units are rated at 6kW only and that could put you in a real danger.

Be very careful with those ones and make use of the link below please!

Thanks I have one of these and paid a lot more than this for it 2 years ago so bought this as a replacement in the event that the original might break as I find electric showers only last me about 2 years

just a question which is really dumb. does that mean it uses 9.5kw of electricity (ie 4.75kwh for a 30 min shower)

I really could do with one of these but I'm uncertain to how much it would cost for plumbing/electrion's to fit it in? does anybody know roughly from experience.

Yeah good question EuroPear. Any advice anyone?

Great price for a 9.5kw- mine last about 2 years and then only heat to luke warm- that's 4 years supply sorted! Thanks op!

I've had my 7.5kw shower since when I moved into my house...and that was 6 years ago. So, I think I will the 8.5kW Forte, so that when my old shower dies, that will replace it.

    Thank you OP.

Cost will vary on where you live and state of your existing installation.
Unless it is like for like replacement it will cost you significantly more.
New installation is notifeable work so it has to be done by Part P registered electrician OR you should let your Local Building Control know about any modification since its bathroom!

Best to call few people and ask about pricing though.

No I meant 8.5kW is the maximum I would put on that cable, but I'm thinking I'd need 10mm even for 8.5kW. I've no idea what the existing shower is, wouldn't be surprised if it's 6kW

I routinely have 15-20 minutes showers.
I first get myself nice and wet.
    Then apply 2 shampoos.
Then soap the whole body, then rinse.
Then shampoo again, followed by soaping the whole body. Then rinse.
Then quite often I will stand under the shower for a further 5 minutes.
