Edit: Original go to deal link isn't working: http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_19037.htm

Having recently missed out on the deal here:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/visit?m=310&q=844608

I instead went for this deal:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/808lcd-super-fast-aa-aaa-battery-charger-normally-14-99-now-7-99-delivered-7days/880399

Although the 7-dayshop charger is great it only charges AA or AAA batteries whereas this LIDL model charges all types.

There doesn't appear to be a great amount of technical information but as I have lots of dying C, D and PP3 cells at home it's got to be worth getting one.

* Charges AAA, AA, C, D and 9V block batteries Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries
* Charges up to 6 batteries at once
* LED battery status indicators
* With refresh function to discharge batteries fully before re-charging
* With overload, reverse polarity protection and shut-off timer
* Contents, accessories & batteries not included
* 3 year manufacturer’s warranty

Is this one as good as the other tronic charger that always gets voted hot on here?

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lidl-tronic-intelligent-charger-pro/844608

If not I hope they haven't stopped making the original as I need one!

Worth noting it is not available until a week today on the 17th.
Does look like the same one as the one featured earlier in the year though

I did set a start date for the deal but it doesn't really stand out so thanks for pointing this out again.

Now how did the previous poster get URLs to be clickable, hmmm?

This looks to be a very good deal.
Bought the Tronic KH980 which charges up to 8 batteries for £9.99 not so long ago.
That is an excellent charger, and I'd expect this to be as good.

Links only work in replies/comments and not in the original post- probably to make people use the "go to deal" referral link instead, otherwise HUKD would miss out on monies, could be wrong though...

Is this a smart charger? ie does it stop charging automatically when the battery is fully charged? Also can it revive batteries which arent charging properly?

My local one has tons and I got one the other day. Only thing is, all the boxes look as if they have been opened before, so these may be returns for all I know. Mine looked ok apart from the tatty seal.
One thing I noticed with it is that batteries charge a little more quickly than expected and end up warmer than when I use my 30min rapid charger. Dunno if I'd recommend one yet.

Bought a charger from lidl over 5 years ago and still excellent recharging batterys most days, kids toys or the cameras, there batterys aren't so good best i use are vapetech or duracell instants.

I bought a Lidl charger (differant to this) in the past and lots of their rechargable batteries.Most of the batteries were either dead to start with or died soon after. (grey batteries with red energy written on it). Charger seems fine though.

I have one of these chargers, it works fine. The only thing I would ask though is mine specifically says that you can't charge a 9 volt battery in the same 'bay' as AA/AAA/C/D batteries. So while it has 6 slots and six charging indicators, you can only use a maximum of 4?

Unless they've changed the design of it, I have had mine for a while now.

Oh, the refresh function is very useful for ni-cd batteries, the discharge/charge cycle seems to make them last longer. ni-mh don't have the same issues as ni-cd.

bought the other charger on the link which is a bit bigger then this one has the 9 volt battery slots on the top ,,in all it charges 8 batteries in one go including the 2 9 volts ones ,,
yes it seems to charge the batteries faster mine batteries its charging in just under 1.30 hrs ,,tried AA2450 mah and AAA 850 mah ,
so far its working ok the model no is Tronic KH980 and i paid 9.99 couple of months back

I think both of these

* With refresh function to discharge batteries fully before re-charging
* With overload, reverse polarity protection and shut-off timer

mean yes.

Can u select charging/discharging current with these?
If not, what is it?
#15
This should be in stores tomorrow.
#16
I'm hoping so!

Just back from Lidl, got one. I have 4 batteries in it now, one is being charged and 3 are being reconditioned. :)

What's the verdict on it John, do the lights tell you what it's doing and the battery state, is it quick etc.

If it's any good I'll get one this eve

So far seems good. You stick batteries in, and:

The LED blinks red and green every second - the rechargeable batteries are alternately charged and discharged (Refresh-Function: Older batteries or those that have been stored for a long time period will be refreshed.)

The LED flashes red and green in a 1/2 second rhythm - If the rechargeable batteries do not have to be refreshed (refresh function) conditional on length of storage and ages, the following process takes place: the rechargeable batteries are discharged to minimize memory effect.

The LED glow red constantly: The rechargeable batteries are charged with the maximum charge current.

The LED glow green constantly: The batteries are fully charged and the battery charger has switched over to trickle charge.

So far one of mine has turned green and I've put another one in...
