Out of interest what are the best makes of basmati rice?
Is Trophy considered better than Laila (in general)?

I find all of the basmati rice equivalent and here I am including the much hyped Tilda as well.
The only brand which I did not like was Sapna Basmati, was more like the long grain rice. Otherwise I have used Tilda, Kohinoor, Trophy, Laila, Khazana, Akash, Zebra and many more.

The biggest difference I've seen between brands is how much rinsing the rice requires before cooking. It isn't so much that some brands are always dirty, they probably just have some dusty batches.

serached on the website did not find any. my local tesco does not have this. I wish they were selling it online

I think you'll find should say Trophy rice at 89p per kg is cheaper than Tesco value basmatti rice at £1.50 per kilo (in main post)

We tend to stick to Tilda Basmati, usually get a 20KG bag from Costco or Makro and it lasts a good few months (think we paid about £28 or £32 last time) . Other some other brands we've tried tend to be mushy and less fluffy depending on how you cook it. Might give this a try if i can get it at my local tesco..

The best stuff is grown in Pakistan. Indian rice tends to be marketed better but cant match the quality of the Pakistani rice which is also cheaper in my experience. Something to do with the soil in the area it is grown etc.

I thought they meant it should really be 90p (89.9p rounded up) per kilo.

I would say Tilda is best, well again depends on how rice is made.

Then I may say Dawat/ Rajdhani are good...

Go to groceries and input Trophy basmati rice in the search box and it brings it up. Alternatively search under offers.
