I've purchased various brands of big bag Indian Basmati rice and it resembles white rice.

I thought basmati like other rice could be processed (white) or not (brown/wholegrain), It never says on the packet what it is.

Probably a very stupid question to ask but is most basmati rice sold in supermarkets WHITE or is it the wholegrain variety is lighter than normal brown rice?

Good deal if this is a REAL indian BASMATI rice !!!

i have used this before..u cant compare it to the Tilda's of the world but its a decent quality rice for daily consumption.

Typically all these supermarket rices will be white as they are polished.

Not a great deal as £5 for 5kg seems to be the norm these days for budget rice

what I do dislike is rice advertised in big letters as BASMATI, only to find it is a combination of basic white with basmati!

What do you mean by polished?
