Ready for seconds?

The biggest TV phenomenon of last year is back with a bite!

Welcome back to Bon Temps, home to mystery, Southern sensuality and dark secrets. For Sookie Stackhouse, life is more dangerous than ever after she and Bill become more deeply involved. Meanwhile, Tara finds herself under a lover's spell; Sam puts his trust in an unlikely ally; Jason becomes involved with an anti-vampire sect; Eric becomes interested in Sookie after he recruits her to investigate the disappearance of his 2,000-year-old maker; and Maryann is revealed to possess a power that can control almost everyone in town. Then, after making a shocking discovery, Sookie, Bill and Sam must form the last line of defence against a diabolical plan that raises this award-winning series to bloody new heights.

Clothes fall to the floor almost as often as blood spatters the walls in this show that blends supernatural horror, sex, and mystery, with just a little bit of social commentary thrown in for good measure.

This series and the first series any good? Ive avoided in fear that I will have purchased many hours of TV thats similar to those twilight films (i.e totally aimed at a female audience). Reviews on play seem to be mainly from women rating it very highly.

I dont think I could take any more vampires films where the vampires dont do anything but stare at each other moodily - kinda like Dawsons creek meets the munsters (they never hurt anyone either).

Yes, there are moody vampires in this, but I suppose one does get slightly depressed after hundreds of years it. But, NO NO NO NO NO NO is this anything like the god awful criminally bad twilight abortions, I cannot express how much I despise them.

First series was good, second one was a bit meh in comparison but the 3rd series is also excellent :)

MY OH loves True Blood.. he's a 35yr old male. It's so different from anything else out there. Series 2 is our least favorite series (we watched 3 series back to back) as we feel it is a bit far fetched but definitely worth watching. Now if you want to watch the bestest show ever! then watch DEXTER... absolutely brilliant.

Mate, these vampires definitely don't sparkle, they tend to explode into flames.
If you like vampires, and lots and lots of sex then I'm sure you will enjoy True Blood.

No, it's far more adult with plenty of blood and violence, not to mention nudity.
Well worth a look

I kind of felt the same way for the same reasons and avoided this TV show for ages. I saw snippets on TV and thought it looked interesting. Finally I gave it a chance and ended up watching all 3 series in the space of 2 weeks - it's great! Absolutely full of sex, violence and most importantly humour -it never takes itself too seriously and there are so many laugh out loud moments (all intentional and mostly quite clever).
