Spotted this torch on dealextreme and thought I would post it on HUD. Seems like a good price for a supposedly 900 lumen torch. Only 5 reviews, but they are generally 4/5 stars on dealextreme. Anyone own this model?

This isn't a hot deal. You don't make it clear which torch you mean but this is about the usual the DX price for a "900 lumen" torch.

direct link fixed in the original post, sorry about that.

Is this a £22 torch?:?

do you mean it seems too expensive, or too cheap, or too something else for it to be £22, or is the shock at the dollar to pound conversion rate?
#6
These are a total bargain!! Even if it is the 'normal' price from DX.

Especially good for on a bike/bike helmet with the darker nights coming up.

The equivalent set of bike lights (ok you need to buy a mount for the torch too) would set you back nearer £100.

Also, someone will no doubt comment that this wont be 900 lumen - fair enough but it'll still be about 700 - BRIGHT!!!!

There are cheaper P7 torches available at DX, and many of them have both better reviews and look visually more appealling than this.

I won't vote either way, but I will say that a P7 torch will blow the socks off anything you can pick up at B&Q or any camping store, and will likely be far cheaper. To get anywhere near the brightness of a P7, you have to get into specialist HID torches, which are crazy mad expensive.

Nice torch!

Thanks for the comment thakanester, this was the highest lumen rated torch I could find on DX, so I am sure there may be brighter torches on there, but I couldnt find any which said 900 lumens or more.

If you find any, please post them.

There's a ton of P7 torches on DX (just type P7 into the search box). They are all much of a muchness to be honest, except that some brands, such as Ultrafire and Trustfire tend to have consistently better build quality. Others have extra bells and whistles, such as multiple modes etc.

As I say, there's not much to choose between most of the models, except price and visual appeal and I don't think that anyone would be disappointed by any of the P7s on sale there!

This looks slightly better (but pretty much the only difference to my novice eyes is that this one has an aluminium reflector, and a wider head, as opposed to the one in the original post)

- Features a Seoul Semiconductors SSC P7 LED C-Bin emitter
- Powered by 1 x 18650 battery (sold separately)
- Maximum output: 900 lumens (P7-C emitter rating, manufacturer provided)
- 5-mode tail cap clicky on/off: Hi > Mid > Lo > Strobe > SOS
- Glass lens with textured/OP aluminum reflector
- Copper Heatsink

I have the single-mode version of this torch. It's quite nicely built. All the threads are good, and it dissipates heat really well. It's a good size in the hand, and extremely bright. I'd recommend it!

Yeah, this is seeming like a good find. I am not too much of a fan off the 5 modes though, but having said that, I would like a high and low mode, since in 99% of situations you do not need the max power of the torch, bettery to save battery power.
