Amazing price!

You too can turf your living room for the World Cup - saves on the hoovering - must admit getting the rid on mower in the room is a bit difficult!
#5
Shall wait for more confirmation before I hike to B&Q, hope it isn't store specific as I could do with some myself!
#6
Not as cheap as the free stuff I got from a neighbours "chucking out" pile when they were having a new patio laid, but at £1 per roll, I may be visiting B & Q to deal with the worst areas of my back garden.

Superb weather at the moment for laying turf too as you won't be using gallons of water on it; one of the few benefits of the British weather

Why not hike there and tell other people

spent the weekend digging up my garden only to go to B&Q and be told they're delivering today.. hope it's £1 a roll now

mumbojumbo
Turf doesn't keep for more than a few days especially in this weather, so it's often reduced at B&Q. The quality is ok, but compare it alongside Rolawn and the difference is obvious. We filled in some gaps with B&Q turf - it was coarser, with less dense growth and weedy.

Couldn't agree more!!!! :)

Our neighbour used Rolawn turf and it looks amazing!! Great customer service too apparently as they call you to make sure everything is OK! (Plus they're on Quidco and Topcashback!)

I've had my fair share of hiking to hundreds of non-existant/store specific deals and learnt my lesson so shall take a back seat on this one seeing as my B&Q is quite far! Plus someone might already be planning on taking a trip their regardless of this deal

Either way, good price at £1!

Hot from me at this price. The dog will still turn it brown with wee no matter how much I pay.
#12
From previous posts - apparently they get it in for the weekend and anything not sold is cleared out on a Monday at £1 or 75p or as low as 50p depending on how much they've got left. So pot luck if they have any.
#13
Whats wrong with grass seed !! cheaper and more chance of lasting threw the summer
#14
Yep, will be store specific and its priced depending on its condition and how much they're trying to get rid of.
#15
I need turf! but not right now... Thanks for the post anyway.

I used rowlawn turf when doing the front garden, the medallian range. very happy with it. Not sure what the quality of this turf will be so would check prior to buying, cheap price and a hot deal.

I did find the rowlawn cheap enough personally and the results are very impressive.

Suppose I am lucky, living next door to a bowling green

Must get some more tonight ... now where's my torch ?

Thanks. Heat and rep added.

And mine. I put the turf down in our garden about 2 months ago and it's had 2 mows. I've lost interest already. Astro turf is the way forward.

wondering the same thing,i put some grass seed down about 6 weeks ago and it looking good one box came from poundland and the other from wilkos and both sides are looking spot on.Will try and take a photo later, much more pride in sowing your own seeds than buying commercial grown *****

i hope the groundsman at wembley is reading this forum:whistling:

Bought some a couple of weeks ago to finish off my garden as the store was nearer than where I bought the original turf, the quality was quite poor compared to the other stuff I had put down, it was dry as a bone and 2 of the 5 rolls I put down were around 70% dead within a couple of days and ended up having to go get some more decent stuff to replace it ...

Also has anyone actually confirmed this anywhere else?
#33
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DO not buy this, my parents had to re-turf the lawn, however after a week the grass went from lush green to almost dead! infact it is dead, i'll go take a picture of it. you can see from the picture it has been newly laid down. Do not waste your money on this!

These are the images of our "lush green grass" You can see where it's green and it's died on the outside. It's been watered and we've even used miracle grow.

Searing summer heat........the ideal time to lay turf!
#37
Guess with turf they might use local suppliers so it could vary, but certainly didn't have a good experience the last time I tried B&Q's stuff. Having spent ages preparing the soil underneath, and following all the guidance I could find about getting it established, it all just withered to scraps. A box of decent quality grass seed did the trick however!

To be fair I helped a mate turf his back lawn with B&Q turf... 6 months on and it looks great...

Either we were very lucky or you unlucky or didn't look after it enough.
#39
At £2.58 we picked up two or three of these last year.

Damn fine stuff, and if it's a quid nationwide, then bangin'!

Sounds like either you haven't enough soil under the turf, or you have a high acid content in that soil.

grass seed works fine and half the price
