If you don't like all the bones when eating your meat this Christmas, Turkey Crown is the way forward and at this price too.

a turkey crown has the breast bone in it.

A turkey butterfly, however doesn't.

Except possibly the Sternum...that's the big bony thing that separates the two breasts.

Getting off the finer points of fowl anatomy and butchery terms, I do find it a little sad that Morrisons were selling fresh turkey breast joints for £4.50/kg a couple of months ago...yet in the run up to Christmas when everyone is short, they have an extra special price that's nearly double with added bone & skin.

Not that I can complain too much about Morissons as they aren't alone in upping prices just before Christmas. Asda put 12% on the price of their double cream last week and Sainsburys put their milk up so it's now 29% more expensive than Asda on 4 pints.

In the current market £8 a kilo for a fresh crown is pretty good...although, for those with access, Makro will be doing (up to) 3Kg crowns for £15 (no VAT on food), working out at £5/kg.
