I have one of these headsets which I got myself at Xmas from Tesco for £125 ... and yes, you are right about the batteries, but I use rechargables anyway :)

Console = £160

Headset = £100+

Doesnt seem right to me.

I use a pair of £500+ headphones

These beat my logitech Z5500 5.1 surround speaker system (for the Xbox anyway). The only fault I really have with them is that they don't support DTS so I don't use them for my PS3

EASILY worth 100 quid, especially as the 30 odd quid pair of 2.1 surround stereo headphones also by TB seem to get plenty of praise.

So? Just disable DTS and enable Dolby 5.1 from the XMB. PS3s support both DTS and Dolby 5.1.

As for these being value for money, they're really not. The only reason people know of them is due to TB making more affordable stereo headsets, and because they are sold in game shops. In reality, my £10 Aldi headphones provide the same experience as these as well as the lower X11 and X31 models.

unfortunately I couldnt wait and paid £130 just after xmas from Amazon. Shame they werent even instock at tesco before as I'd have got 10% staff discount and could have used some clubcard vouchers.

Still, I think it's an excellent headset. Friends use the supposedly better Astro's but to get wireless & 7.1 would cost you £220 for them.
Batteries seem fine to me, ones that came with it lasted 20hrs, now using rechargeable ones

Have you even tried these headphones? If not your point becomes void. Your 10 quid Aldi STEREO headphones will not provide the same experience as these, infact I'd be very surprised if they performed just as well as TB's stereo headphones.

You're effectively comparing a TV's built in speaker to a home cinema system with your analogy.

The X41s to my ears are at the very least on a par with the standard 5.1 surround setting of my speaker system when used with my PS3 and exceed it with my 360.

I owned them for around a year, before selling them for some Sharkoons, then moving on to the Astros.

Wait, so you've owned 3 pairs of +100 quid headphones, probably even close to a 200 quid pair with those Astros and you're claiming that your Aldi 10 quid pair are just as good?

Why not just stick with those? Think of the savings you could have made....

Have some heat so tempted to get some of these.

Edit:

Ive ordered them got them for £95 as had £5 clubcard voucher i had forgot about from 2008.
Also topcashback
