Amazing discount. Why? New model coming out? Outdated tech? Pretty niche product. Heat added.

Currently looking for a new headset (my PX5s have been amazing since day one, but they are almost gone) and I came across this.

Fantastic price, if it's something you need?

Would be a sin not to share.

All the best ...

Niche. If you read the description on the website you'll see why.

I know why it's niche. I just wonder why it's reduced so heavily.

Yup. Mandatory. Sorry.

checking ebay they don't fetch much for similar stuff. cold

I can see why you may need one for a tournament, but i bet all the teams are using mumble, teamspeak etc. why buy hardware, and all associated cabling, where the problem can be fixed with software.
#13
Could you use this to output speakers in multiple rooms to one input?

You know when you are trying to grab that thing in the top of the cupboard and just cant reach, well you can stand on this and reach it. So yes you do.

I know why it's niche. I just wonder why it's reduced so heavily.

It's now classified as a legacy product, it uses the XP Seven Audio Controller units which have been succeeded by the Elite series headset and TAC audio unit. The Elite TAC uses ethernet daisy chaining and on longer uses the 9 pin connector.

It's a very niche product, mainly used in eSports as it is the simplest and cleanest solution to have offline voice chat for a team, compared to having daisy chained mixamps and tacs.

It's now reached EOL and it's probably expensive to keep the stock when no one is buying it. It's been reduced for a while and picked up 3 as we normally would have hired these from an events company.

I think you'd pretty much have to have an amp of some sort coming off every channel. Failing that it would be headset level.
Stand to be corrected though.

Do you play PC games with 5 of your friends all in the same room? If so, this might help you out a bit.

I also have the Px5's TheLondonFella but have never been happy with them, popping and dropping out, so much so that i would probably never go wireless again with a headset and would think twice about turtle beach.Glad yours have been everything i wanted mine to be. lol

Believe me, mine are on their way out!

I've patched them up a good few times!

Yes, interference has been an issue. The PX51s addressed that, with Dual Band WiFi.

Was looking at the Elite 800s for a while, but they seem to get terribly bad reviews. They've been around for over 2 years now, but still £200-£225?!

I think I'm set on the Astro A50 Gen 3. I'll probably go for the PS4 version (which looks much better than the horrendous Xbox One green, in my opinion) then buy a separate Base Station for the Xbox One, once they are available. Did you know that, by the way? You simply place the headset into Base Station connected to the console that you wish to game on at that moment, and they instantly pair. Thus, completely wireless gaming on both consoles.

What condition are your PX5s in? Have you thought about getting rid of them?

Thanks for the response ...

My px5's are in good nick, just the rubber starting to degrade around the cups.Paid £180 for them I think when i got them, think that's why I was so disappointed with there performance, but they are worth next to nothing if i sold them on ebay or CEX. Astro A50's is what I would go for if they packed in or would perhaps go down BoomPro with a really good set of headphones route

Looks like a great Nintendo Switch accessory for Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2 meet-ups. I'll likely snag 2, cheers OP! :)

WiFi is the cause for popping/cracking (interference) so both my consoles, Sky Box & TV are connected to my router via ethernet. That makes a huge difference.

If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest hardwiring your devices as well.

Also, another tip is to connect your headset to the Base Station before you turn on any of your other devices. This way, your headset will get the best possible/solid connection.

Have you ever owned a pair of A50s? Apparently they are good.

Well lets hope our ageing PX5s hold out a bit longer, just so that we can take our time & replace them at our own pace ... that is, waiting for a pukka Hot Deal ;-).

Stay in touch, buddy.

I do have most of my devices hard wired now and it has made a difference, with interference being reduced. When i first got them our baby monitor was also a major cause. I watch quite a lot of streamers on twitch and although you have to remember that a lot of them are sponsored by the companies who's products they use,I like to go through the list of equipment they use,as if it is good enough for someone who is using them in there job it can't be half bad.One such streamer-Castro,uses a Steelseries headset (which I admit I'd never heard of) and they look very nice.

Thanks for the advice regarding the PX'5's mate and hope your patch up job holds a bit longer!

Anyone know if this can just be used as a splitter? to say for example have the PS4 audio and PC audio go to the same headphones?

Was interested until someone mentioned "daisy chaining!" I'm out!
Let me clarify, I was explaining how other systems like the Turtlebeach Elite TAC and Astro Mixamp use daisy chaining between multiple units to do a team chat system.

This is one whole unit that is essentially having 6 daisy chained astro mixamps. There are 6 individual inputs going to 6 individual audio out ports. The audio from the microphones going in, is shared amongst everyone using the TM1.

You don't need to daisy chain
