Great find. THANKS

Nice. I use these for all my gaming. Good surround sound.
You do get some noise when there is supposed to be silence, but you don't notice when playing a game. I connected the optical out from my tv to the receiver, so I can use them for anything. ( pc,ps3 tv)
Make sure you get some good nimh rechargeable batteries (1000 mAh AAA), as you will get getter life & signal.
Well worth £75

Better getting a turtle-beach HPX and a cheap astro mixamp of ebay. Quality is 10x better.

Well, find us a great deal on those and we'll be right on them.

Otherwise, I think £75 for some of these is great. My brother got some X41s last time this deal was on and loves 'em, tempted by these myself.

New model was at E3, good deal but may go lower if they need to get rid of the old model in the future.

Heat added.

How do these work? Are they just to talk to other players like the regular thin headset with a mic? How do you listen to the game audio with them on?

great item. i have both x4 and x31. however, after introducing X41, x3 was still expensive.

You do both, the game audio and chat comes through the headset, although it's not as jarring as that sounds, the two meld together quite well and you can adjust them individually.

Says you can't use these for PC or PS3. I can't understand why they wouldn't work with them. Its USB powered isn't it?

I know they are more expensive but are these Trttons a better headset does anyone know?

You can use them with any product that has an optical output. I have my 360, PS3, HDDVD player all connected into a 3 way optical switch and one cable from that into the X41 base unit. It woks perfectly will everything and they are great.

They are only not compatible with PS3 chat, but i know you can get an extra item to make this work if you wish, but game audio and blu ray auio is fine.

Another great feature of these that most others don't have is that the base unit also has optical pass through. This allows me to have another cable from the base unit into my Receiver so if playing at a time that allows, i can play using my home surround system without needing to mess about disconnecting and reconnecting any cables round the back of the equipment......

Another good thing is they are USB powered so no bulky adaptors. I can then simply disconnect the optical and usb cable then grab the unit to connect to my xbox in the bedroom within seconds.... sorted.

I highly reccommend them. I paid £112 at the turn of the year and are a bargain at that price.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm less likely to use them for PS3 chat anyway since all my mates are on XBox and I tend to only buy single player games for the PS3.

Do you have any complaints about the sound quality or any other things that bug you about this headset?
#13
I got one last time deal was on- these are really great for both Xbox and Sky Box.
#14
Really brilliant these but slight background hiss when there's no audio, but who sits there in silence with headphones on :p
#15
Great headphones. Excellent quality on 360 games and my sat box ac3 output. Major problem I have with these ...

When using them on my sat box, if I have the computer downloading, I get lots of crackle. From what I've seen, it's a major problem. For slight wifi usage, they're fine. But when downloading something from net, it's terrible...

Well worth it at this price. got them for £125 last year, so bit miffed how cheap they are :p

Great for the price, but no where near the best for gaming. Decent pair of Sennheiser HD headphones + an Astro Mixamp and you're sorted for life. Or at least until 16.1 surround sound is out.

Which Sennheiser and Astro amp would you recommend?
#18
There doesn't appear to be any boom mic options with a sennheiser set up so not that great for gaming.

After having a bit more of a dig about, this is about the best wireless headset at this price. Although there are many who complain about hissing and interference. The next step up in quality is a huge jump in price though with the Turtle Beach PX5's coming in at £170.

I'd like to try these out before coughing up £75 for them. Does anywhere do this ?

HD555, HD595 or PC360.

The PC360 is a headset and has an integrated mic. The 555's/595's would need a mic velcro'd onto the earphone cup (fragtality mod) since they are headphones. The 595's sound the best with the PC360's and 555's fairly close. All of those Senns I mentioned along with the Mixamp are a step up from any TB or Triton headset.

I get bad interference from my wifi and they eat batteries too! The surround sound isn't that great either. Just get some normal headphones with a long lead, you only use them when everyone else is in bed so there shouldn't be anyone to trip over the wire.

Did you try changing the channel on your wifi?
I get a few days use out of a set 1000 mAh batteries. Just buy 4 and make sure you have the spare set charged :)

got a pair of those a few months ago from tesco for £80

I have no complaints. The sound quality is excellent and regardless of sceptics on here the surround does work brilliantly (play an online shooter ala Bad Company 2 and you hear the direction of people approaching you).

I don't use wifi in my house as prefer wired so can't comment on interference on that, although i gather you could change the channels. AS for background hiss, yes there is a tiny hiss when there's no other sound coming through, but you cannot notice it when you have them in use, so no issue at all.

As for batteries, they last a good 2-3 days depending on usage, but as said, just make sure you have 4 rechagables and when they die put the spares in and stick the others on charge so never an issue.

You can also plug a wired set of phones into the base unit so 2 people can enjoy a game or movie etc... that has been said, but what hasn't is that the processing unit creates the surround sound effect for those headphones also.

These are a BARGAIN at this price..... Any idiots on here comparing to mix amp and astro combos or other set ups are just trying to rain on the parade because you won't get any of those combos for anything like £75... double or triple it most likely and you might.

It would be like disregarding a bargain price for Porsch becasue a Ferrari's better at 5 x the price.... It's an irrelevant argument.

Bought - heat added, thanks for posting!

Anyone want a week old pair of Turtle Beach XLC's? :P
#27
Regarding post by Del above... Changing the channels makes no difference, as the whole of the 2.4Ghz spectrum is used for these headphones... I tried that originally, using about 3 different channels, all were just causing interference...

is there a way to use these on ps3 with chat wirelessly?I know you can buy an adapter but it not wireless?

Not easally.. you would need some kind of microphone to bluetooth converter..
The xbox controller has a mic socket, which is how it works wirelessly.

Just got these £75 store pickup, great price thanks!

my review:
iv had the wired x11's for a while now and the wires were always tangled so went for this deal....
There is less background hiss with these and the range and clarity is supurb.
im still geting used to the main volume control being on the left ear cup as you cant actually see what your doing.
overall id say there brilliant, just wish the cups were slightly bigger like the x11's.. i have big ears tho lol

Paid the £5 delivery because to get to a store would have cost me about that, the dozy gits never delivered so I got my fiver back and then when it took another two days they refunded a further tenner for my inconvenience so I got these for £65! :D
