I've got one for my old LCD analogue TV which is now getting used as a 2nd TV.

Fantastic price and great reviews for this machine. Just bought one!

does this pause series link and stuff lyk sky plus? is it reliable? does it just plug and play?
are there any monthly charges with it?
#6
@ hocka: from the link:

- Record or pause live TV with twin tuner DVR.

- You can choose from two fantastic options;

- 160GB hard drive for up to 80 hours of recording

- 7 Day EPG

- Record one channel and watch another

- One touch record function.

in your opinion is it better than sky plus (esp as i would have to pay £10 a month for multi room) -but apart from that, is it better? its for my daughters christmas present
#8
Does anyone know what kind of connections it has at the back? It it just SCART or does it have HDMI?
#9
Just what I'm searching for!

Thanks!

anyway to get the delivery down?

Even with delivery its bloomin' cheap.
To compare with Sky+... with this you get 86 hours of recording (double that of a skybox), you get up to 2 hours of rewind ( 1hour on sky+), picture in picture, and a 7 day epg. It's easy to use and has a great remote which can be programmed to operate your TV too. On looking into the menus, I've discovered that this is a model specifically manufactured for M&S.

I have one of these. It is a rebranded Wharfedale (Argos) so I'm not sure if exactly the same model. I have read somewhere that it is supposed to be Sony manufactured.
It is very good. The universal remote, for me, is a big plus.
The program guide is also very clear and easy to move around (page up/down, forward/back 24 hours or 4 hours).
It is also very quiet and energy efficient.

How do you know its the DTR-FP1600 ?

I'm not sure it is exactly the same model but it is all very similar to the docs (re program guide, remote control functionality etc..):
http://www.tvonics.com/skin/frontend/default/tvonics_1_0/pdf-manuals/DTR-FP%20Range%20User%20Guide.pdf

One thing I have noticed, with mine, is that if you fast forward/back then sometimes there is a sound sync problem. Just pausing it and pressing play corrects it.

Maybe an issue also with the dtr-fp1600. Perhaps someone could confirm?

It may be a dumb question, but can this be used with a Virgin Media box (to record programs received through Virgin)?

Yes it does sometimes get out of sync when FF or REW is used but pause fixs it as you say. Its a great little box, whisper quiet and mine is still going strong after 4 years of daily use. 35w in use and 1 w standby.

No

I got mine 4 years ago for £74.99 when half price at argos. Only last year, tesco had this up for sale at £149.99 so this price is a steal.

bear in mind, this only has the basic freeview channels, not UK Gold, discovery etc.

Is there any benefit to having this sort of equipment in an area where you cant yet recieve Freeview ?
#23
Ordered 2, less than £70 as qualifies for free delivery.
I have 3 items of TVonics kit already, all over 2 years old, one is currently playing up turning itself off and on every few minutes. The PVR does go out of sync for the sound with the picture half the time when you fast forward or back. This is only a minor niggle, as has been stated you stop the playback and restart it from the point you want. Overall very good products, especially strong for tuning in areas with a weak or variable signal.

When it comes to Freeview boxes I have been through quite a few (a variety of brands), they never last more than a couple of years.

Not at the moment as it can only record programs from its built in tuner.

However, its possible that some areas that can't get freeview just now will be able to in the future, particularly once the analogue system is shut down.

dam had in my basket and was adding other stuff aswell. bet they wont get this back in stock at that price.
#39
When I ordered at 07:55 there were 46 in stock.

I don't think the picture on the website is of the actual product we will hopefully receive, I took a copy in case there is an issue.

The picture is of the z250 or z500 I think, I have been looking at them in Comet recently with their £149/£199 price tags.
