This Tvonics box is the best freeview box I have ever had. I paid £120 for it and it has never missed a beat. Record up to 100hrs HD, two channels, good Freeview guide. A possible five year guarantee for £5.

Cold these boxes are truly truly truly awful and u will just keep getting it replaced. Trust me I used to swap loads out when I was helping out with the switchover. The company went bust aswell I believe. So could be agg if it does break.

the only thing on the TVonics website: The TVonics brand has been acquired by Pulse-Eight you can find more information about TVonics products on the Pulse-Eight website.

If you have a problem with your TVonics product and it was not purchased from Pulse-Eight, please return it to your place of purchase for help and support. Sadly our ability to support legacy products is severely restricted.

Either Richer Sounds will repair or replace, so still a good deal.

I've had a Panasonic HWT130eb refurb from their own eBay site, been great but it's £95.

Its not an Onyko so cold for me.

According to the site, there's only 1 in Birmingham - so it's possibly slightly moot.
Pity.

doesn't do HD so cold.

doesn't do HD so cold.

Interestingly the HD in the model number stands for High Definition. What does HD mean to you?

Made in the UK by the Sony TV factory in S Wales who also make the Raspberry Pi.

New owners have announced they will not be developing this range any further due to the complexity of the ownership of the firmware.

I have the slightly newer model and it works perfectly with superb picture quality.

I've got one of these and it's a very capable box, especially at this price.

I to have one of these boxes and when its working the picture quality and function is very good.

But...

It is so unreliable I wish I didn't buy it (it will work for a while, the it will loose the recording function, then it will freeze and would reboot its self. Then when you disconnect it and leave it for a few weeks, on reconnection it will works)

So I wouldn't recommend it. Cold oO

I bought one for my brother Christmas before last. Was really impressed with it but unfortunately it only lasted about 5 months before it froze permanently. Got a full refund from Amazon and replaced it with a Humax (Have had several Humax boxes before). For this price it might be worth a punt, but from what I read there have been several reports about overall reliability.

I've had my box now about 1 year and did a software update and on the whole it has been very good. My experience with Humax has been terrible but that was with Youview boxes.
