High school romance is difficult enough to navigate when both people are human. But for 17-year-old Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart, INTO THE WILD) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE), Edward's life as a vampire complicates things even more. At first, when Bella moves from sunny Phoenix to the rainiest corner of Washington State, she isn't sure where she fits in at her new high school. Then she meets Edward, an ethereal beauty of a boy whose unnatural speed and strength lead Bella to the conclusion that her new crush is one of the undead. Suddenly, Bella's boring life is transformed; she's surrounded by love and danger in equal parts, thanks to the hunger of Edward and others of his kind.

TWILIGHT is based on the first book in the addictive series by author Stephenie Meyer. Director Catherine Hardwicke (THIRTEEN) certainly knows her audience, which is primarily the teenage girls who worship the book and its characters. There are plenty of swoonworthy shots of Pattinson's perfectly pale Edward, and his romance with Stewart's nicely acted Bella will cause many a sigh among the devoted fans. While TWILIGHT is primarily a love story in the ROMEO AND JULIET mold, there's also plenty of action and horror to be found. Blood flows (this is a vampire movie, after all), but the small amount of gore shouldn't be too much for the squeamish viewers. The film's record-breaking box office take alone is proof that the film's appeal isn't limited to screaming teen girls

I watched it on Tuesday... I'm sure it will be fine if you're open minded enough to buy a 12 for your 11 year old daughter. I don't remember anything very rude, just a bit of blood from the inevitable vampire biting etc.

Not particularly funny, inwards chuckles mainly and I wouldn't say its slushy at all. I'm 25, I wouldn't normally go for something like this but my girlfriend bought the DVD having read the book and I found it really easy to watch... although, as you can probably tell, I'm not really sure why!!

It's not "slushy" neither is it romantic, or gory, or anything to do with vampires. I'm not sure what it is really, infact I do, very plain and uneventful.

I just got hooked on the series, just finished 'new moon' this morning - will be watching the twilight film tonight, though I dont expect it to live up to the book

It's not as good as the book but it is worth watching (this from a 30 something adult not a young girl.......!)
I read all 4 books in about 3 weeks, then watched the film.

OK thanks, my daughter has seen all the Harry potter films, the last couple of those have been rated 12 and they weren't that bad, she's reading Darren Shan books at the moment, so is getting into the vampire 'thang', I'm just not sure about this film, it looks a bit too girly for my liking. I might be better off having a look at Buffy:-D, thanks again:thumbsup:

If she likes Harry Potter films I think she'd probably like this, it's not what I'd call a girly film at all!

I'm 26, read Twilight after i bought it from a deal on here - went to find the second one in the library the day I finished it and couldn't find it anywhere, till I spotted it in the teen section :giggle:

There's one way to make the movie even better.. Rifftrax!. You pay a couple of quid or so and get a MST3K style commentary - from some of the people who did MST3K and listen to it alongside the film.. There's a ten minute sample on YouTube here, but the whole thing's comedy gold.

I was not recommended to watch this movie by a friend (in his 30s), he described it as a 'Teen Movie'
Any film that contains vampires, wovles or anything supernatural im caught on the hook. Now, i've not read the books but watched the film recently.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, don't expect this to be vampire fest, effects are somewhat basic & simple, gore is near non-existent but what it lacks in blood it makes up in romance and charm. This is another take of the film Romeo and Juliet. I found it very charming and endearing throughout the film with hints of humour to the end.

This is about an emo chick who is on her periods, hence always moody. Who happens to run into "vampires" at her school. The hero's face was struck with a frying pan which is why his nose and the front of his face looks squished - however this was not divulged in the main story. Oh and they play vampire sports and get attacked by some wolves who sadly don't kill them all at the spot. Thats abut it.

The film has made millions, hardly a flop.

The books are much better, which is usually the case. The film is average, but an essential stocking filler for my 15 year old daughter. Heat added.

This was a dull movie with some of the most wooden perfomances ever seen.
Watch True Blood Instead.
