From what I have read you can use soap flakes instead of the Tech Wash. I'm just trying this out now.

As for the TX-Direct the 5L is excellent value for money - 62p per 100ml as opposed to £1.34 per 100ml with the 1L or £2+ for the 300ml. Of course it depends if you can use 5L but I know enough people who need the stuff to make it worth buying the biggie.

Cheers for the info - 5 L would probably last me for several years though. :-)

Soap flakes seem to be fine. I ran through another rinse in the machine just to make sure any residue was gone. Make sure you dissolve the flakes in hot water if using a machine though.

Yep - hopefully 5L will last me several years!
