Yes very nice but before I buy this I'd like Season 2 Region 2! Anyone know where I can get it, quick google suggests only region 1.

I read somewhere that there are two versions of ths film - one of which reveals the identity of Laura Palmer's killer, while the other doesn't. You might like to find out which this is.

I never bothered to watch the TV series until I saw this film on TV - and then I was hooked. Unfortunately, the film I saw did reveal who killed LP so the series was somewhat lacking in suspense when I watched it, but I still felt compelled to get series 2 anyway. But then I am a fan of David Lynch's films.

There are two versions of the Pilot episode of Twin Peaks, a normal version which doesn't reveal the killer and an alternative version which ABC made David Lynch create incase the show didn't go down well and they needed to have some sort of conclusion. But of course, the series was a hit so no one saw the alternate Pilot which revealed the killer (at least I don't think anyone saw it during the time the show was on TV).

The film is a prequel to the show itself and was made after the show had ended and it's the last seven days in Laura Palmer's life, so yes, you do see who killed her. So if you intend to watch the series DO NOT watch the film first, watch the normal Pilot and then the rest of the series and then the film. I bought the Gold Box from the US because I couldn't be bothered waiting for a region 2 UK release but season 2 is now being released over here in February 2010 (7 years after the first season might I add!!!!! Which is absoutely ridiculous in my opinion, but at least it's finally getting a release), it's been officially announced on Universal Playback's website.

Thanks for clarifying that

Don't know how much series 2 will cost when released in the UK, but if you can't wait till Feb you can buy a region 2 set from NL or Scandinavia, as mentioned above.

Seems a bit strange for there to be an alternative version of the Pilot which reveals the Killer. hang on I'm going to reread your comments.

Naaah still don't get it. They put out a Pilot which doesn't include the Killer then if it's not successful they put out the one with the killer. Can't see them ever doing this! Why would they bother? Surely if it's not successful the full series just doesn't get made. That's what pilots are about.

Feb 2010 though....excellent.

The closed ending meant the pilot could be sold in Europe and other territories as a direct-to-video movie. Much of the footage from this ending was reused as Cooper's dream in a later episode,

^^ This. That's why it's known as the 'Alternative European Pilot'. It was produced for European markets.

Shame you knew the killer before it was revealed, the build up culminating in the final 2 episodes where the killer is revealed is probably one of the best 'reveals' I've ever seen.

They didn't reveal everything. What is shown in the pilot is more like an alternative ending and, as mentioned above, is reused as Cooper's dream who then thinks he knows the killer but he doesn't know everything.

Ahhh now I see. Blimey that would have been a really cr*p film. Furtunately it turned out to be a fantastic two series. Watched series 1 when I bought it about 5 years ago (ish). I haven't seen the series two finale since it was shown on the tv in 1990 (ish). Wow nearly 20 years ago. Still get that '...Does eat oats and little lambs eat Ivy' tune in my head from time to time! Roll on Feb next year!

Currently working my way through my Gold Box Edition (region 2), might buy this for when I finish...don't think I'll be ready to leave Twin Peaks that easy!

I'm going to buy the UK releases of seasons 1 and 2 in February, my excuse is to watch it upscaled (which I couldn't do with the Gold Box), plus I want the much coveted UK release of season 2 and it's not complete without season 1.

never realised they did a R2 version of the Gold Box... I have the R1 release, and use my Xbox & PS3 as my primary players, ops a bit of a issue with some of my collection now.. shame

roll on Blu rays ;)

I fancy a cup of midnight Joe with a slice of cherry pie now, mmmm!

Fantastic show in so many ways. Definitely DONT watch this before the series, if can be helped! :)
