This release includes the entire first season (7 episodes and the pilot) of director David Lynch's shockingly original television series. When its two-hour pilot episode aired on April 8, 1990, the program forever changed the face of prime-time television. A bizarre, ingenious, hysterical, terrifying murder mystery set in the Pacific Northwest logging town of Twin Peaks, the series opens with the discovery of the body of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), a seemingly straitlaced high school student. Assigned to the case is FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), a quirky man who converses regularly with Diane, his portable tape recorder. As Cooper settles into his life in Twin Peaks, he meets a revolving cast of characters who are all off-kilter in their own personal way. Gradually, the town's facade of extreme normality begins to crack mightily, revealing an endless barrage of schemes, fronts, and hidden relationships that expose Twin Peaks as the disturbed, unsettling town that it is.

Without its groundbreaking mix of convoluted plotting, complex character interactions, surreal fantasy sequences and a continuous story arc, we would probably not have had The X-Files, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under or even The League of Gentlemen

Cheapest price I have seen this box set for, obviously for completists the Gold Edition of both seasons is worth hunting down, but for an introduction to the cult classic, this 1st Season price is a bit of a bargain me thinks. Don't forget to go through Quidco!

If you are a credit card holder at Zavvi, otherwise with Quidco its cheaper at HMV with free delivery. Standard price is still cheaper than Zavvi and far cheaper than anywhere else, Play, CD Wow, 101CD, Amazon etc etc have it for 30-40 quid plus

Yep, which is bloody annoying, why only bring out the first half of it in the UK? The only episode I never saw when it was on tv was the final one, which is a tad annoying.

Or you can as I ordered get the Gold Edition Scandanavian release, region 2 PAL with full english 5.1 audio and menus, thats what I bought a few months ago, currently £35.99, I got it when it was on offer for about £26 or so.

This is still a hot deal though just for the first season, you can still pick up season two region 1.

THen providing you have a dvd plyaer thats multi region you would have to order currently the region one version from somewhere like Amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/Twin-Peaks-Second-Kyle-MacLachlan/dp/B000M3439E/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1223903550&sr=8-3

Or it might be just as well to sell your 1st season on either Ebay or Amazon Marketplace and put the money recouped from that into buying the Region 2 Gold Edition I linked too on CD Wow earlier.

You know, I don't want to rant or advocate any illegal activity (but I probably am). But it is annoying that the best way to get hold of amazing series [2] like this is to torrent it. Stuff like DRM and region based DVDs just support the fact that its better to download something illegally than it is to try and get it above board because you can't! Grrr...

Twin Peaks is amazing! I have both on region 1 but had to pay over the odds on ebay for #2. Best way to watch it is like this. Series 1, Series 2 and then the movie followed by series 1 and series 2. The movie is based before the series one but was made after. It'll make a lot more sense and the series have to be watched at least twice. <3 David Lynch!

Is the first episode in this set the proper first episode , or the pilot (which i have on old VHS) which reveals ******* as the killer the end, because I'm sure the real episode one has never been released here. I think it's available on the gold dvd boxset.

Great series.....not voting either way though as I don't know if it's a hot deal.

nice spoiler

Awesome show and pure TV gold - Season 2 lost the plot a bit but is still better than 99% of the rubbish on TV these days. Have been watching it from the start again only recently and the magic is still there.

I tried watching the first episode of this a few months back, and it really hasn't aged very well. But it's David Lynch so surely must get better. Voted hot:)

yes, it takes a few episodes to get back into it, but its just a show case for Lynchs brilliant visuals and nightmarish dream like sequences

a bona fida masterpiece for sure

once you get back into it, youll be watching 2-3 episodes a day

dont ask me how i know !!!

There are several suppliers on Amazon UK selling Season 2 Region 1. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Twin-Peaks-Second-Season-REGION/dp/B000M3439E/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1228329304&sr=8-5. Even if you got stung for import duty it should cost less than £40. While that isn't as cheap as the bargains like Buffy that sells at a tenner a season, it's not prohibitive.

Overcoming a Region Lock on your player appears to be something the industry has turned a blind eye to (if indeed, there is any sort of legal implication of the process anyway). I imagine the distributors would much prefer a product be bought somewhere in the world rather than downloaded.

Also, the Region 2 Gold Edition can be bought from Amazon Germany http://www.amazon.de/Twin-Peaks-Definitive-Gold-Box/dp/B000K2VKCK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1228328246&sr=8-1 (albeit for more money!). If you are willing to risk your cash, you could also try http://www.cdwow.com/Twin-Peaks-Definitive-Gold-Box-Edition-10-DVD/product/view/2498063

I am not sure it's accurate to say you can't obtain Season 2 above board. These links may not help a non-web-savvy person, but anyone capable to torrenting the series would be perfectly capable of using either of the suppliers above (as long as they have used Amazon UK before - the process is identical, just in German; I probably missed the button to let you change language).

Region Locking allows middlemen to cream more money out of you for supplying products from overseas, but whether that adds up to a justification for downloading torrents would remain open to debate.

And to get back on track. Hot Deal - looks like most other suppliers have hiked the price.

Good to see this deal getting heat some two months after I posted it!...Nice to see that HMV havent raised their price.

I myself did post in the thread that obviously completists would do better getting the gold boxset, and I did order myself the Scandanavian Region 2 PAL release from CD Wow, and besides taking about 3 weeks to dispatch everything was fine, at the time I ordered as well it was only £27.

Strange that this has not been given a UK release, however the scandanavian has english menus and Audio as standard, as well as having english text for the most part on the box itself.
