Great price! I stocked up on the Earl, but they never stock Lady at my nearest Morrisons.

Bargain or not, any company that lays off UK workers, relocates to cheaper Poland and asks for a European grant to finance it, is going to get cold from me

yeah totally agree, lot's of Twinning's workers from my neck of the woods got laid off & I've vowed never to buy their tea's again. Even if they were selling them for 1p a box I still wouldn't buy them!

A good price, a shame the Twinings Chai Tea is not on offer too.

Just to rub salt in wounds they get the sacked workers to train their replacements too. Global capitalism for you.

But Poland is in Europe so what is wrong with that?

It's called Capitalism, it's not Twinings fault that the UK is crap and they can't make money here.

The price never seems to come down when they manufacture abroad though.

The company which owns Twinings and is moving it to China and Poland: Associatd British Foods!
- profits increased 6% last year to £192 million.

Why should it? As long as they sell enough at that price why would they bother to lower it? It's a luxury product after all. The price elasticity curve is not a straight line!!!

Manufacturing costs in the UK are high. We have very restrictive employment legislation, minimum wage, far too many maternity/paternity rights, and a very expensive health and safety regime.

No employer would want to treat his employees badly or put them in danger but the red tape for running a business in the UK has got ridiculous and that is why manufacturers will choose to move to the best place for them. Good luck Twinings. If the UK gets better again then hopefully they will come back.
