last time I sold something they took 10% :(

Plus you get hammered with the paypal fees once they take their cut as well :x
#6

Me too! and then about 3.7% paypal fees. Grrr!
Way too high IMO

listing fees are next to nothing anyway,
it's the final value fees that kill you - and they never reduce those !

Suppose its ok to flood ebay with a load of stuff that might not sell,
since you're saving the 40p listing fees.
#10
I always list for free anyway, by starting all my auctions at 99p.

That's in the games/CD/film sections, don't know if that still applies for other areas.
#11
10% Final Value Fees, then FORCED Paypal as well.:x

They are really trying to get rid of the personal seller on ebay aren't they? Gear it more towards business' and the like.
#12
Peeves me off that you cant list for free with turbo lister now though - i use it all the time :(
#13
Wow, I'd save that 15p insertion fee.
How about they stop taking about 13% of the final value fee. Last time I sold something for £24, Ebay took 9% of the £24 then Paypal took 3.7% of the £24 as well!
#14
Did you know how much final fees ebay charges in Poland ? 2.5% for 'buy it now' but not more than 43,75 zł (approx £9.5); and 2% for auction format with approx. £8 maximum fee. There are also alternatives to paypal and most listings are free.

Do you know why ??? Certainly not because people do not buy on internet but because they have no monopoly there. They need competition over here too.

Try compare the fee you have to pay for selling e.g. a laptop on ebay here.Do not sell anything on ebay ! Do not get rip off by bunch of greedy idiots .Try anything to avoid - gumtree, HUKD, adtrader...anything.It works for you.

heat added for info

Hasn't this free listing been going on since just after xmas? I have placed about 300 things free since January. I know it is soon to expire though.

Very cold.

just sold a brand new buggy on ebay for £101, with the 10% final fees of £10.10, it came just £90. My mother in law paid £150 for it, but i dont need another buggy so got to sell it. Ebay is a proper rip off

I think if anyones going to rival Ebay, it's going to have to be Google.

great find...
are these 2 days free listing for the ladies to auction off some of the ex boyfriend's gifts??
+heat btw

eBay has became an absolute JOKE. Fees everywhere, on millions of transactions, they really are alienating personal sellers, paid over £35 in fees last time i sold something(iPhone 3g), seems there is no point in selling anything worth much as you just end up giving ebay and paypal all of it. notice they now sneak paypal fees when you get sent the payment instead of before you withdraw it. dirty scoundrels!
#25
Final Value fee's and paypal fee's stopped me selling as a private individual and business - business also because of all the competition re stolen goods or VAT fraud whoosh gone sellers.
#26
You could try http://www.dewgraze.com which is totally free but hardly anyone is using it at the moment. If it picks up then its a winner.
#27
Yh cheers. I need to sell a few things so yh this should benefit me a little.

Agreed. Ebay have the monopoly now and are starting to flex their muscles. It's disgraceful. Google could definitely hit them hard, without ripping people off.
#29
Make sure you check the account when the ebay bills come, the last free day listing on ebay , they still went ahead and charged me the full ebay fee.
#30
and if your lucky when you get the money they will hold on to it for 21 days also....

i stopped selling on flebay last year when after 10 years and massive 100% posative feedback they thought just to be safe they would hold all my money for 21 days....
#31
I sold my laptop off ebay for under £400 and ebay + paypal cost me almost £40 in fees...had i known this before i would have just sold it to my mate!!
#32
Absolutely cold for me, eBay is nothing but a gigantic rip-off.

Huge business gets cheap fees and the little people who need help get high fees, this deal is as cold as ice
#33
Voted cold because this company have already told you they no longer want your goods, only wanting buy it now from companys.Stuffs usualy more expensive on ebay too. Save pennies on listing and get done for pounds on selling, yeh right.

They need some good competition, come on google how about googlebay?
#34
I agree with the people here and HATE the ebay fees. However if you cannot sell something here (or similar website) then you have little choice if you want to sell something (pawn shops would give you almost nothing).
For example I was selling an archos 605 wifi, I tried to sell it here and on other websites but no one was interested so I sold it on ebay. I had to give up a certain percentage but I had no real alternatives.

so what's to stop us from making polish accounts?

i already have a US account so this shouldnt be too hard
#36
so they charge for turbo lister as well now!! ebay is now a total rip-off and they have shafted the individual sellers that made it a success.
#37
i still got my fees to pay from last free listing day.it is such a big rip off all the selling and paypal fees.its well out of order that ebay takes there 10% then paypal takes a fee out of the sale and postage fee.it would be better if paypal takes there cut out of the ebay selling fee after the 10% has been taken and dont take a cut out of the postage, but we can dream.

I like Ebid,a nice free Auction, its getting bigger, hopefully they will give Ebay a run for there money one day.
#38
Ice Cold listings is ALWAYS free for listings that are auction and start @ 99p
Also there is a 13.7% fee if if is paid for with paypal otherwise 10%
suspended#39
How is this hot? It should be sub zero at least.
#40
Defo cold !! Paypal and eBay are the biggest scammer. Took 2 months to approve a chargeback !!!
