Sorry if this has already been posted.

Thanks to Portal and Andrewr22 on MSE I have just bagged 2 pairs of prescription glasses for £18 delivered.

Originally the glasses I went for were priced at £15 each but reduced to £10 in the sale. With the purchase of two frames you get free p&p (normally £3.95).

Using a 10% off code: carole

This reduces the price to £18.

And don't forget 14% quidco.

These are good value BUT they want £10 for each coating :x(anti-scratch, anti-reflect & UV) - these coatings are FREE at goggles4U:roll:. So these are cheap if you don't want coatings BUT if you do they add £30 to each pair whereas goggles4U are about £12 each pair delivered with these coatings free - they have a much bigger range of cheap glasses too - about 1000 styles.

So if you want coating then goggles4U remain the cheapest I have found. I was given a short duration discount code (expired) at g4U which made their glasses only £10 each with coatings.

goggles4U looks excellent!!!:-D

Also try Selectspecs they cut out the high street optician i got thin lenses coated plus frames for £33:00 (ps, im also blind without me specs!!) Well known optician wanted £230:00 for lenses only!!:p

If you need thin lensesI bought a pair of valentino (with thin lenses (1.61)This type of lenses are around £200 even in specsavers. as they also change in the sunlight (they become dark). All this for about £70. the company is http://www.glassescrafter.co.uk. They have a huge selection.
If you are lucky you might be able to find the same model in an optician try it on and then go for it. I actually just looked at the measurements and I liked the model, so I didn't try the model on. I thought I take the risk. The price includes anti-scratch, antiglaze too. They are located in china, but still the glasses arrived safely after 2 weeks.

All their stock seems to be for spectacle wearers with narrow faces! Nothing for anyone that needs a frame width above 140. In fact 120 seems to be about average for their frames, far too small.
#11
Thanks for referencing me in the OP re the 10% off code
I did put the code on here last night..
#12
Seems like a real good deal. You can pay hundreds of pounds at Specksavers.
#13
Excellent, thanks. Just ordered 2 pairs :D

I always get worried the glasses wont fit. Nothing worse than uncomfortable glasses.

Happy New Year from Glasses Direct.

To all our customers who've already bought prescription glasses from us in 2008 - thank you!

However, with our January sale in full swing and the number of customers this is attracting, we've had to suspend the promotion code discussed in this forum.

Prices for 2 pairs rather than being £18 can be purchased at £20 including free post & packing.

Thank you again for your support.

Regards

The poster who mentioned about the limited sizes would do well to look at www.goggles4U.com. They have about 1000 styles and size variations.

To compare like with like, if you want coatings on your lenses - G4U work out at about £24 for 2 pairs with all the coatings whereas this firm are £18 plus £60 for the coatings on 2 pairs -£78!!

G4U also do the photochromic (automatic darken in sunlight) for about £17 delivered!! They also do 15% off for returning customers making their prices even cheaper.

As a family we have had many pairs from G4U now - they usually arrive in about 10 days from Pakistan in a cotton wrapped parcel sealed with red wax - surreal. But I can vouch for their quality - superb.

I ought to add - I have no affiliation with goggles4U, I'm just a fan of their fantastic price with all the extras included.

Ahh good old hot deals - no sooner as an offer gets published, the retailer quickly changes the goal posts.

do any of the companies mentioned do varifocals
would like to try this type of lens
but not sure if buying over the net for varifocals is a good idea

Great deal, voted hot & added rep! However, I have clicked expired - pity the company doesn't want our business.
