Tyres for less @ Kwik Fit

Just been on Kwik Fit's web site on the look out for some new tyres. They have a price calcualtor that recognises yoyr car type so you don't have to read out any strange numbers off the side of your tyre.
They are doing on-line quoting. Pick the tyres you want. If you need two there is a good discount depending on the tyre. If you need four there is a major discount. 4 individual tyres for my beast would have been £640. Bought together they are £450.
Once you get the quote, print it off and take it into your local branch and they will honour it!

Maybe good but I found etyres to be better and they come to you:-D

The wife did that once. I chose the tyres (good ones) and she came back with cheap **** that they charged the same price for because her selection was 'out of stock'. Rip off monkey company. Needless to say I went ******* ballistic.

Just done a check for myself and kwik fit cheaper for the same tyre

Prices for my car seem to be around 20% higher than at Blackcircles.com, and you get 5% with Quidco at Blackcircles

All it takes is a couple of calls to specialist tyre dealers to get quotes a hell of a lot cheaper than these cowboys.

Were the tyres you got for £450 low profile branded sports tyres?

I've use www.tyre-shopper.co.uk before, with fitting through National Tyres. Although it doesn't say on the website if you need your tyre urgently you can call the national tyres branch and check they have stock, then place your online order for the earliest possible day, call up tyre-shopper and they bump up your order to the current day

Worked out £40 cheaper than buying through National Tyres themselves :)

Not impressed with their Tyre Calc. Got the wrong sizes listed for various models of my car i.e.

00-05 Celica reckons its running around on 195/55/15's or 215/45/17's !!! Erm try 205/50/16 or 205/45/17 for correct sizes.

Even pulling those valids sizes in they are way more than other places charge. I always check on blackcircles or for supply only use www.camskill.co.uk

As to low profile tyres check prices on 225/40/18's and then see what prices come back elsewhere

Other thing I would add is try Humpries who are also owned by Kwik Fit. They initially quote me £149 per tyre but reduced that on the spot to £90 a tyre (online price I'd found) when I bought 4.

Also kwik fit charge extra for Valve and Balance and a Tyre Disposal Charge, whereas someone like tyre-shopper or bestbuy tyres include these in their prices.

Kwik fit are £50 more expensive for 2 Michellins in my case than the above two.

p.s. I have a kwik fit 10% off card and I still wouldnt use em!

EDIT: LOL £17 for balancing two tyres!!!! Cheeky beggars.

Great price until you realise that the first price you see is not the fitted price adds another £10 per tyre which makes it just 50p per tyre less than I can get them here (fitted at National Tyres)

Every little helps I suppose but I don't trust KwikFit since I went in for a free brake check and they took the pads off for a clean and put them back on wrong.
Also ATS will do a price match if you prefer them and they have the same tyres!

Yeah that always make me laugh too

Mk6 Escort recommended tyre size from Kwik fit is 175/65H14. Now even assuming the wheel size was correct then it should still be 185/60. Donuts. As it happens the wheels size isn't even correct as her car came with 15" wheels (195/50/15)

In my own experience Kwikfit have always been more interested in your money than giving any level of quality service. I have to go there because they are the suppliers for my lease company and the last time they managed to fit tyres with different speed ratings on each side of the car. An honest mistake I'm sure and nothing to do with the fact they only had one of the correct tyres in stock!

You can get a good deals but caveat emptor (translation: you need to watch the ******s like hawks!).

Incidentally I have also used etyres a number of times and they have been excellent, good prices great service.

Whenever I have been to Kwik Fit whatever time, different days they always suggest that my brakes need doing; even when I know they are fine.
#13
does anyone know any tyre-shoppers.co.uk codes???
#14
Probably the worst all round automotive company you could ever possibly hope to visit!
Service is rubbish - as are their diagnosis of problems - along with their prices! Avoid!

Krap-Fit don't even do tyres for my car.

It's soooooooo rare obviously...

Hi first time hope this works.
My friend needed a tyre for his car KWIK FIT wanted £195.00 fitted.
I told him to go to
http://www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html
He found the price of £93.00 for the tyre they ship to you at home you just pay £10.00 for fitting at a local tyre shop.
He printed this off and took it to KWIK FIT the matched the price.
They charged him £100.00 all in fitted and balanced.
Hope this helps.
MY car tyres are DUNLOP SP SPORT 01 215/55 R16 93V x4 Kwik fit want £512.00 normaly but have discount at the moment.
Mytyres want £363.60 delivered Plus you need £40/£50 pounds for fitting at local tyre shop.
Saving £148.40.
If pushed with print out they will match a price

I once owned a Volvo 240GLT Estate which needed a complete new exhaust system. It was very expensive compared to other cars, but when I paid I was offered th opportunity to guarantee the system for the life of the car for an additional £25. I decided that as I had not had the car long, it would be a prudent purchase.

I ended up keeping the car for 4 years and it had done 240,000 miles when I eventually sold it. In that time I had THREE systems fitted, completely free of charge. It must have cost them a fortune!

I agree that their tyres are a rip-off price. I was visiting them last year to have some new discs fitted (on a company car, contract company so no choice of service provider).
A guy came in to have a quote for 2 new front tyres on his Passat estate (the same model as my private car). The price he was quoted was the same for 2 tyres as for the 4 I had fitted of the same make a few weeks previously!
I was tempted to tell him that he had been ripped-off, but the last thing you need is a smart-**** telling you you have wasted your money when you have only just parted with your cash.
#18
even though you had three systems fitted, they would still have made money out of you, as the prices are about 80% higher than the trade price the exhaust would cost. also kwik fit only uses cheap labour.shower of **** springs to mind everytime i see their dodgy adverts.
mytyres and blackcircles are 10 times better.
#19
no doubt when you get tyres they will tell you need new brake discs - everyone I know who has gone there has been told this lie

Needed a tyre today and was quoted £110 and £129 from two different branches of Kwikfit.

One said they'd pricematch any offer...and I found a local greasemonkey who would do it for £85 plus vat.

Kwikfit would match it and I might have saved on the vat, but they should have come in at that price from the get-go and they might have had my business!

Support your local tyre fitter...you'll get better service for a start. I've done this for years as I've an inherant distrust of KF.

The talk of charging for balancing and insisting you need new brakes etc makes me pleased I stuck with my local fitter.
