The first U2 cd I purchased. Anybody who dosen't have this buy it and hear what U2 used to sound like before they became rich and Bono got stuck up his own backside!

But it wears high heels so it doesn't matter.
I also prefer the early stuff especially when Eno got on board.

And this seems to be exactly when it all seemed to go pear shape. Up to this point I had bought everything, every album, 7" single, video - everything. Since this CD I haven't bought a U2 album and haven't ever wanted to.

Dunno. Surely it's more on the early bombastic stuff that Hewson is at one with his rectum. Even if he was more given to cringeworthy public pronouncements later on, at least on record it sounded more like he had his tongue firmly in his cheek.

At what point exactly did you think 'ooh this has gone pear-shaped' ? Are you saying that you loved the band massively, then took the huff and stopped buying any of their albums ? Why ?

I don't recall ever thinking "ooh", but to answer your question the point at which I stopped buying their albums was after the material that appears on this compilation. I believe I said that. I didn't "take a huff", I just didn't like anything they released after that point. With that in mind I didn't buy it.

Thanks for your interest though.

I'm trying to think of other candidates for Worst. Band. Ever.

So what about 'Achtung Baby' !!!! Personally that is my favourite of all their albums.

Good production on that album. And, actually, for once, one or even two good (ish) songs. Shame about the singing though.

Ah yes, Achtung Baby was very good. After that one, I didn't buy any of their offerings.
