Google Maps is offering £20 off an Uber ride for new and existing customers.

No idea if its for selected accounts or everyone but I opened Google Maps, plotted a route home and selected the Taxi option (little man waving) and I got a popup saying £20 off this trip. I accepted and ordered and was asked to link to a new or existing Uber account, I linked to my existing and got the £20 discount.

The majority of Uber drivers originate from another country and that's a fact.
Can you explain to me how our taxi licencing can possibly do a proper criminal record check when most of the countries they come from have a corrupt police force and men that have little respect for women.
I would go crazy if I found out me daughter had used an Uber.

Found the Daily Mail reader.

First and only time I used UBER scumbag driver drove past (could see him on the app) location and billed my the minimum fare, no way of disputing just screwed over

Go into your app > swipe in from the left > select Your Trips > choose the offending trip and scroll down, choose one of the options and explain the issue you had and you'll get a refund pretty quick.

Just to clear a few things up you won't be getting a Taxi you'll be getting a minicab with a third world driver. 2nd it's known as the Rape app for a reason 32 rapes/Sexual assaults 2015 & 2016 that's 64 in the last 2 years in London alone. figures direct from the mayor of London. Look for #ubered on twitter. Saving money is great. Saving money and putting your life at risk is not.

My dad is an Uber driver. Are you saying my dad is a third world driver?

How do those figures for rape/assault compare to normal taxi drivers? On their own they are pretty meaningless.

What a stupid thing to read.
64 assaults in 2 years. Uber has had over a million rides in London at the end on 2016
0.0064% chance of something bad happening.

Ive got no idea why it matters if they guy uses a sat nav to navigate. You know they have them in Black cabs in London as well?

Ive used Uber in 8 different country's and spent 7 years going out in London and I sure as hell would rather order an Uber after a night out than rely on any taxi firm on the street.

Exactly what I'd have done. As much as I dislike twitter it's a fantastic platform to make a complaint

There is no link per se, the discount is applied when you pay via android pay but the offer is pretty visible within the app. It's 50% off up to a max. discount of £5

Hello, it only seems to work if you use it for a trip there and then. I was offered it yesterday though and it's stuck around until today.

What Prosamuriman said. Uber are still in the 'spend investors cash' stage and it is all about customer service atm (not employees service but that is a different issue). Also as your first time using them why aren't you using one of the voucher codes for first free ride that litter the web?

Whereabouts is the taxi option? I can't see it under the "transport" options for the hypothetical route I just tried.

Edit: I just noticed where you select it so nvm.

It looks like I don't have this offer. :(

I tried it before signing in to uber and afterwards also. I've only used uber once before.

same thing happened to me in Malaysia. under refunded the payment within 24 hours. There's an option on the app somewhere to complain about the driver/fare.

haha a similar situation happened to me the first time using Uber........others have said try the in app support......I tried that 3 times but the scumbags ignored it........but what did work was to get on twitter and start roasting them and I got refunded rapidly.

You must be on a laptop like me try a phone maybe ?

It does not work on my phone :(

Will get my £5 off tomorrow for using Android Pay but £20 would have been much better!

The only other thing which comes up for me is with the 'Gett' black taxi app which is giving £5 off on 3 rides using code 'GOOGLE' but it's more expensive than Uber but will use it for some short local journeys if it still comes up for me in the future which might be good for when I travel with my dog as find black cabs MUCH more dog friendly than regular cabs

To dispute it just go to 'Your Trips' > 'I would like a refund'. Explain why and you will get a refund instantly. Works every time.

Uber software track YOU after 'dropping lite' all the way to your house, they have no business to do that.
I find it worrisome and would never use them for this reason.

Awesome deal. I wish I could save for later.

Be very careful with uber. My normal taxi ride that normally costs £25 and when I ordered no price came up.
I asked the driver and he said it will cost £24

You don't actually get the message until after youre dropped off.
As soon as he'd driven off I get a bill for £46
UBER customer services don't care

Do you know how long the offer is for? I know you can't pre-book with Uber
