This phone can also be reserved online for collection from store for £119.95. Also a 256MB mini-sd card is supplied.

Description

Designed to have the look and feel of a phone but with the power of a feature packed Pocket PC this unit solves the problem of most combined phone / pda devices (the lack of a keypad for one handed dialing) with a neat slide out design reminiscent of the Samsung D500 etc.

Its a very stylish device with good build quality and a pack of features, it has WiFi, Bluetooth and it runs Skype really well, although if you plan on using Skype with WiFi a lot you should consider a second battery.

In fairness that phone looks awful. Much rather have one of the HTC models, the new Touch preferrably.
#3
Yep looks quite nice but a shame it's so big.
#4
No T9, predictive text. Original battery not good, and if get the larger capacity battery, the mobile will become too thick and heavy. Besides, quality issues, i.e. paint and sliding.

Forgot to say, someone getting this phone, try the £10 off code that can be found on this forum.
#6
Cheers for the code reminder hengtian, rep added :)
#7
ok, stupid i know but how do you enter the code???
#8
(answers own question) ... enter it in the How Found box (obviously!!??)
#9
I really really like the idea of this. Great post :)

The tv tuner reception is not that great with the bundled headphones. You can modified the 3.5mm adapter, i.e. add wires and socket, so that you can connect to the ordinary indoor/outdoor antenna.

it should have as it is a PocketPC rather than a Smartphone...

Jeez, what a brick!
#14
I was worried it would be a brick but a quick spec search shows it's not far off my last two phones the SE S700i and SE K800i

Looks like i've found a new home for my work contract sim card :whistling:

its a very functional brick ;-)

Ok ordered one, but how do i know the £10 code has been honoured?
#17
from previous orders, you only get that info when the billing is generated (i.e. until then the order doesnt accoutn for the voucher)...
#18
i love buying gadgets, long-live huk! ;-)
#19
840 mAh?
#20
will it run tom tom ok as it looks to be a pda in the specs good deal as you cant get bluetooth and wi fi pda for this price never mind phone + camera
#21
Yeh it will run TOmTom.

It's WM5, with a 400mhz+ processor!

I'd have bought this if I didn't have an M600!
#22
Would this work with a Three Network sim card ?
#24
looks like an amazing phone!
#25
I have the lobster700 tv phone (was £20 direct from virgin), and TBH never bother with the TV part - I just use it for DAB, and tomtom in the car ;)
#26
This is a good deal for a windows phone with a processor above 400MHz. It will also be possible to upgrade this to Windows Mobile 6 if spend the time researching it a bit. You can so much more with a phone like this than you can with SE k800 or some other derivative. You can install tomtom on this phone, run office application, even a pdf viewer!

I'm just waiting for the HTC S730 to come out...

That's grabbed my interest........

Worth noting that if using the £10 discount code you might want to add on a screen protector for £6.99
#28
so who's taking the plunge?!
#29
I have, wife will be pleased when it turns up saturday :giggle:
#30
nice, let us know how you get on - i start a new job on monday - if the phone they supply is pap, i'll grab one of these...

shame it doesnt have dual sim actually!
#31
Will the wifi let you use VOIP? Also, can't quite see where you put the code, someone suggested the "How you found us" section, is that the case? Thanks.
#32
Yes, where do you put the code?
#33
I think this review is for the same phone. Overall reviews seemed mixed, has anyone tried one?

The vouchers section says it goes in the "How you found us" section on the checkout page, so I guess that must be it.

I have a Windows Mobile 5 PDA with wifi and I use either Skype Mobile Client or SJPhone SIP client. Both are fine so no reason why should not also be on this as it is Windows Mobile.

Will this be able to access the intenet using the wifi connection? I cant remember if they have internet explorer or not on wm5?

I am very tempted as nearly got the nokia 770 but they were all out of stock. Plus be good for tom tom too.

Yes WM5 (and 6 before you ask) includes Internet Explorer as standard. Hell will freeze over before MS decide NOT to bundle IE with any of their operating systems, whether it's desktop or mobile.

Having said that though I would personally recommend Opera Mini, and not the full blown Opera for WM, as it renders page for the small screen much better than IE on WM. It even has options to reduce the image quality before loading therefore loading pages quicker and using less bandwidth (which is important if not using wifi and the GPRS per mb rates are high). One handed browsing is also possible with Opera Mini, useful if you need it free for something else :)

Sounds good. I need a new phone really an this seems a funky gadget which will get used, especially as I always need tom tom and never have it with me but always carry a phone.

Does this include word and excel like stated in the manual? Creating documents using the touch screen would be very useful :)
