I have an old Audio Note valve amplifier that produces about 1.2 watts but it goes pretty loud (and sounds very sweet) with my DIY horn loaded speakers.

The question people should really be asking is how efficient are the drivers.

LOL for £25 i bought Technika speaker 2x5w which sounds awesome even better than 2x10w Philips, which I returned. Battery life very good too. That was couple of years ago.
so you are 'LOL'ing at the 2x2W even though you say you have a 2x5W which sounds better than a 2x10W you had..
well... LOL!
Youre wrong LOL you dont get it. My speaker sounds awesome. I only mentioned 2x10 speaker so people don't say "it's technika - it's rubbish". So there are awesome speakers like mine, and others. 2x2w doesn't have ANY advantage over my speaker.
i'm not wrong - you laughed at 2x2W as if thats the only criteria
then you went ahead and said your own criteria was junk by saying a 2x5W was better than a 2x10W
if you haven't tested this then you have no clue
'LOL'
You are not a bright one aren't you? English is not my first language, and I may not always say what I intended to. But I make it clear for you again, that what i MEANT to say was:
LOL I bought a 2v5w speaker for this money that it's not half bad, it actually sounds awesome, despite being Tesco own brand. Do you get it now or are you still struggling?
right i get your comment now (its not my fault that english isn't your first language btw oO) and understand it was irrelevant, gotcha!
or maybe you thought it was relevant and you're just not that bright?

Hmm. Another thing I didn't need but had to order!!!! Reviews are excellent. Thanks for posting.
I just happened to be looking at this yesterday. Good deal, but Amazon have had it at £120 for last few weeks. I think it's one of those 'aspirational RRPs' that Creative apply. A bit like Dyson charging £10000000000000 for a vacuum cleaner :)

Its follow up - the Roar Pro is currently around £150. From what I've read, it's not that much of an improvement over the roar 2 (this model), which is already considered pretty decent so still a good find OP. :)

"don't want to clutter the inside my PC with an internal sound card." so you'd rather clutter your house with an external one instead?
taras
to the op, how is putting a pci-e card into your pc "cluttering the inside"? anyhoo each to their own..
It can restrict airflow especially if you have non blower sli.
Internal sound cards (onboard sound as well) can suffer from interference causing humming etc. If you don't have any issues with interference whether or not you will actually experience an upgrade in quality from onboard sound is subjective. The only objective test I've ever seen is this one:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/high-end-pc-audio,3733.html

Unsurprisingly tests of this kind do not lead to increased advertising revenue.
Wow, they still exist! How does it compare to Gravis Ultrasound? ;-)
£99.99 for the soundblaster e5 too
Can anybody comment on the sound quality of the inbuilt dual mic?

i finally got mine last night. had a faff with my lapptop for ages to get it working!
then thought it was awful! finally got used to it and I'm happy with the quality.
just wish it was smaller! i can't be using this on the go with my phone!
Been using it a lot and it's superb for the price with great build quality.

Found it quite cool that I had it connected Bluetooth to iPhone and USB to iPad and it plays sound simultaneously from both devices.
Ooohh its back up bois!
Thanks OP. Are there any valid promo codes currently running? Also don't forget 5.5% Quidco cashback

My mate had these and wasn't too impressed... which could be partly down to the excessive price he paid at the time. Might be perfectly fine for this price range though.
satellites look tiny. probably better off just getting some studio monitors or bookshelf speakers at the same price. also the z623 which is comparable is often around £100 (or lower with flubit), only £10 more and with slightly bigger drivers in the satellites.

Waste of money, a good quality 90s micro hifi (think JVC) with aux input can be had for £20-30, which would blow this out the water. I wasted £50 on a pair of Giga T20's... crap in comparison.
Cool story bro..... welcome to 2016

I bought these a few years ago for 150 (which was the cheapest at the time!). They are a cracking set of 2.1s. The only bad point is the volume is a physical knob (albeit on a wire) so you cannot control the volume remotely.
They sound extremely good, especially with gaming or action movies due to the sub.
No good for use instead of a soundbar then?
Sorry for the late reply on this (although the offer is still live by the looks of it). As you have to adjust the volume manually I would say not really ideal as a soundbar. You could of course come up with a way around this, but essentially they're more of a classic 2.1. It depends what's important to you.

I use them in my bedroom and don't mind having to change the volume manually as much. In the living room this wouldn't be great though.

They do sound very good though, one of the best 2.1s I've heard (price taken into consideration). For games and action movies, they perform exceptionally well.
DaMoUK2013
Many negative reviews about the volume controller on this unit on amazon. Appears that after a year it's common for the volume to fluctuate. You do get a two year warranty from creative on purchasing though.

I've got an old set of T3's up in the loft because of this issue. You can fix it with some electrical cleaner, but taking the volume controller apart is messy.

While they lasted, they were fantastic though. Better than the HK Soundsticks I bought to replace them.

Just ordered! Been after a good 2.1 pc system for a while. I work from home and almost always have movie or tv show streaming on a monitor. Thank you.

All the reviews I can find say they are great!

Uh because they are ~£150 these are £90. My G930 are wireless and sound amazing.

Your ears think they are amazing, because they havent heard sound through the Sennheisers yet ;)

Not tried it myself, but certainly looks good... I wonder if they have a wireless version planned (excluding the previous Sound Blaster ranges - they seem to be trying to reboot things with the BlasterX branding)

Before buying it's worth thinking about what you are buying a dedicated spu for. For gaming and media the sound quality is better, clearer, more defined and the sbk/virtual sound works surprisingly very well on an analogue set of cans with decent drivers or even a decent set of speakers. The zxr isn't a huge upgrade over the zx in all honesty. You will most certainly hear an improve in audio over any motherboard on the market, but you'll most noticeably hear the difference if the volume is set between mid to loud. Also worth noting if you do use a headset that is USB based, you'll be throwing your money away.

thanks for the info
I had a set and sent them back the next day, wireless quality was just about ok, wired was below average and noise reduction a gimmick compared to both my Bose headphones. I ended up sticking with the Sennheiser PC350's through the Creative ZXR card as it can power them and reproduce bass.

As for them quoting that the cups surround your ears, well maybe a childs, they pressed on the top and bottom of my ears making them painful after 30 minutes, I guess that's the downside of being 40, your ears keep growing!

The Sennheisers otoh do surround your ears.
how good is the noise canceling on these?

One thing that really irritates me about these speakers (and many other bluetooth) is the lack of technical specification.
Whats the Amperage on the battery? The sound drivers spec and the Watt output of the speaker/s. These are all important factors to consider, yet creative only posts the dimensions of the bloody thing!

of the three whuch is better?

really struggling.
im thinking #3 because it has specs posted and very good reviews. Almost 2/3 cheaper than this sound blaster.

considering ordering both and just finding out which one is the better of the two

The sound blaster is 2.1 and so the bass will be better as it is active with passive radiators.
Trust me after owning 3-4 different Bluetooth speakers I have stuck to the sound blasters. For the price give great bass and sound, whilst supporting apt-x. Only thing with the original is the weight and size compared to Sound Blaster 2.
I can't remember what the max output is but it can fill my open plan living room, dining room and kitchen quite easily.

Ah nvm . I see what happened. If you attempt to use promo it reverts to original pricing; which doesnt change until you remove and re-add item to basket. Looks like promo code isnt valid with this offer unfortunately
Ah no, the promo code must have been automatically added to the post. The promo code only affects the RRP, so in most cases gives you a higher price compared to the sale price (an exception is the Sound Blaster X7 that comes out cheaper with the code) :)

I'd rather it didn't 'enhance' it and simply played it rather than masking it.
