You can get a pack of three from Costco for around £24 that as well as emitting a noise use the mains wire in your house to emit a signal that will scare off rodents and other pests. You put them in various places around your home to form an area that no rodent would want to be in.

This is still a decent deal though. Although I wouldn't buy them myself as the noise annoys me as well.

Might give it ago since I only need it for the Garage, the sounds shouldn't really annoy me as a result.

Question is do they really work? (Can't get a cat unfortuantely!)

Hey all,

These things are supposed to be useless when driving away rats and mice. Just check out amazon for some reviews on similar products. Supposedly, the rodents get used to the noise, and its like 'living next to a railway line' i.e. they get used to it and carry on annoying you.

Best way to get the unwanted guest is a mouse trap. Rat poison is risky, as it may mean the rodent dies in a wall or something, which means you'll have to search for it, usually by the stench it leaves behind

Sorry to say these do not work, bought them last year when we had mice. Had to get in the council pest controllers in the end. DON`T WASTE YOUR MONEY Thanks :-(

Definitely not!

I've bought these and others and none of them work.
#10
i have a similar product- the pestclear range, doesn't really work, neither did regular mouse traps, the best thing was glue traps- they worked a treat.
#11
What if you have a pet mouse?
#12
We had some field mice get into our loft other year, tried every thing, these things are useless, if you have a mouse problem check Ebay out for a Rat Zapper, best £20 odd pound ever spent, if you have a mouse or rat problem the Rat Zapper is the only one you should buy, works 100% guaranteed. These plug in things are rubbish !!!!
:-D
#13
These are worthless, trust me!

In my line of work, I liase with pest control officers and they have stated the same.

Well rubbish or not the ones I purchased in Costco worked for my friend who hasn't seen a mouse or mouse dropping since they started using it. Then again the ones in Costco are of a much higher quality

I searched ebay and found the rat zapper, looks pretty nasty (but effective) but could not find a cat zapper, which is a shame.
#15
To be honest, if my house had rats or mice in it I wouldn't need one of these because I would probably just move out.

I'm terrified of the things.
#16
Got to agree these are a waste of time:-(
#17
Doesn't the council do it for free?

The local authority I work for don't treat for rodents outside a domestic dwellling. I'd assume that's the same in others. They don't present a public health risk outwith a dwelling.

I live in an old house and had a mouse problem. The local council tried to get rid of them for months using poison, without much success. I bought one of these and they went away overnight.

Not sure what brand this is but it looks like "the Big Cheese". they come as a single pack and a pack of 3 for just a few pounds more. The single is bigger and has a test button, but the pack of 3 seem to be exactly the same spec and only cost a few pounds more. I bought both (so I have 4) to cover the whole house

The sound emmitted is way above the human range so CANNOT be heared unless it's broken, which is prbably why some of these posts say it doesn't work.

Voted hot.

Don't buy if you have a gerbil, hamster, pet mouse, pet rat, chinchila or large insect/arachnid, etc, etc - unless you want dead pets.
Seen these on display with a very big warning regarding the above.

You need one that you can periodically change the frequency on.
