Actually If this is the one I've got it's a better bargain than it looks, as disc 2 is in fact a DVD of live performances and their classic videos

This THIS means nothing to me. ;-)

When he says "this means nothing to me", was he talking about the song's nonsensical lyrical content?

Ultravox. Like a normal vox, only much better. Or something.

Whats the video where Midge Ure dresses up like Indiana Jones ?
#12
They went downhill rapidly post John Foxx.
#13
Quality! Just ordered one. The 1984 edition of the collection on CD was such poor quality. At least this is remastered.

Damn. Been a while since I heard this. It still sounds like it means in my head. Must listen again...

This is the kind of thing that stops me from buying any modern music.

Why buy new and average, when you can buy old but excellent for less!
#19
It's a little known fact that Ultravox were named after a make of TV.

I wondered how long that would take..........

Not having a dig at you my friend, but whenever a band gains popularity, people will always say
how they were much better before, when nobody paid as much attention.

System of Romance was a good album, but it's no 'Rage in Eden' or 'Quartet'

Still, each to their own! with or without Foxx, they are a criminally underrated band.

Vox is latin for voice, as I'm sure you knew.

Well said, someone who knows what they're talking about.

It's so predictable that someone will post a pretentious comment like "they went downhill after John Foxx left" - course they didn't, they were far superior in every department and hence they went on to far more success - it wasn't a fluke it was down to the talent of Midge accompanied by Billy, Chris and Warren.

I saw them 2 weeks ago at a packed Hammersmith Apollo and they were better than ever - a very underestimated band, somehow I don't think John Foxx is still playing packed venues across Europe 30 years on!

It's all a matter of taste, preferred them Foxx-era myself. Doubt if that many people have heard their early stuff but it's well worth checking out their 3 great albums.

Vienna is a fantastic album, the non single tracks like Astradyne and Mr X are brilliant....

Ordered, thanks OP - heat added.

What? A one-off gig and part of a multi lineup following a Gary Numan DJ set at the roundhouse! - Hardly in the same league as playing to thousands in venues on a Europe-wide tour LOL ;-)[/QUOTE]

Agree its a matter of taste but my point was that the previous poster said they went downhill afterwards. I'd hardly call Vienna going downhill - that one single outsold all Ultravox's material under John Foxx in one go!

I liked John Foxx and have a lot of his material but "downhill" is not an accurate description of Midge's influence on the band. Compared to pre-Midge Ultravox went so far uphill thet were in a different stratosphere!

Just been watching the DVD that comes with this - must say the Visions in Blue video :w00t: caught me by surprise, (can't imagine it got played on Top of the Pops at the time
#31
I had a pirate cassette of the 'Quartet' album and they had mispelled 'Visions in Blue' as 'Virgins in Blue' - maybe they saw the video!
