lakeside were selling size 4 as well as size 5 for 99p :-)
#12
yip we just saw this at metro centre shop this afternoon we got the son one as for that price they never come in wrong.
#13
Saw this today in Borehamwood. Still had stock. Want to get one for my son to go in his sack from Santa as it will take up a nice lot of room but had my son with me today! Will have to hope they still have some when I go back.

To be honest them balls are not worth £0.99. Put that quid towards buying a decent football such as a Mitre Ultimax. If thats too pricey get a Mitre Max or Monde instead. Mitre make the best footballs, always have done.
#15
Saw this this morning in Tunbridge Wells....looks like they've got plenty in stock to me! Grabbed one myself. Good enough for the back garden!
#16
Come on everyone. At 2.99 its a bargain, but 0.99 is amazing! HOT. Not doubt Mike Ashley now owns Umbro!!!!
#17
I was right!!!:w00t:

"Ashley has made his money by buying brands. The first major brand he bought was Donnay. In February 2003 Ashley bought the Dunlop Slazenger brand for £40 million, followed up by acquiring outdoor gear manufacturer Karrimor in March 2003,[6]Kangol for £10 million,[7] boxing brand Lonsdale, most of these brands were bought from distressed sellers. After considering a takeover,[8] Ashley took a £9 million stake and signed a long-term deal with Umbro.[9]"

If you know your football, you'll know these balls are terrible, however fine for a kick about and for 99p you cant go wrong.
But if youre looking for a ball to play with regularly, save your money for ones around £15 with a padded feel because these are rock hard when pumped and hard to get any power behind them.

Agreed, poor quality. My football team have had a couple of these and they last about 2 weeks before popping or splitting.

The more expensive Mitre or Nike balls are the only ones worth considering.

The cynic in me (although I think Im fairly accurate) thinks that Mike Ashley has bought these previously 'decent' brands, and used their previously good names to make a profit. Within two years, these brands will be considered as 'rubbish'.

These balls are terrible. So hard.

You get what you pay for. Get a Nike £10 one, it'll be worth it.
#22
If there are size 4 balls for 99p as well, that is a bargain. Especially as they've been "reduced from £4.99" for ages, this is actually a reduction. I could do with five of them. Not too bothered if they're hard, I don't use my feet anyway.

Its a football unless your got to spend £70 and get a real nike or mitre ball theres is no difference between this and a ten pound nike ball except the badge on it.

It honestly isn't the same, not just talking about badge. Depends how you're using it. If you run football teams then I know that these will fall to pieces after being used within 2 weeks. My OH runs a number of teams & < Mada06 > and < mozza9 > were also stating from same point of view & both them & my OH say the same thing from experience. Nothing to do with the badge on them, it's more an endurance thing. He bought 12 of these for training balls once, now he buys proper ones that last 2 seasons so cheaper in long run. Cost about £7 - £15 each depending on whether it's a match or training ball ;-) If you're unsure buy them & try them.

For the kids in the garden or for a kick around they are perfect. A great deal as stated
#25
i get plentya power behind these! a poor workman blames his tools.
#26
Proper balls are £50 thats when you get into the real football, most football below that price are just cheap replicas and will eventually fall to bits
#27
Cant beleive people are moaning about a 99p ball, i got one yesterday in Lakeside Doncaster, ideal for the kids in the garden to kick about.
#28
bought 4 today. good balls but there disposable. the puncture comes out after a weeks worth of kicking around.
#29
I normally buy them at £2.99 without complaining, at 99p, no chance I can complain!

However the balls are not that good, good for playing keep it up but when my mates play a match, we find it hard to keep the ball for 3 days! Its either popped or lost!
#30
thanks for this. got a size 4 for son today. horrendous queues tho! they had current England shirts for £4.49 for adults too.
#31
when did this start? was it from yesterday so it finishes next saturday?
#32
Jesus people...why are people knocking this? Moan moan moan....rubbish football...get yourself a Mitre or Nike....etc! For goodness sake its 99p....what are you expecting????

yeh its 99p dnt expect it to be brilliant,

if the ball pops or blows just take it back to sportsdirect with your receipt and get an exchange (if they have any left, has to be done within the ball sale week, ot else you'll have to pay the full amount £2.99), or just get your money back SPORTSDIRECT DONT GIVE REFUNDS ONLY CREDIT NOTES BUT IF IT IS A MANUFACTURES FAULT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO 100% CASH REFUND (within 28 days and remember to keep your receipt) and dont let anyone tell you, that you cant have your money back BY LAW you are entitled to your money back for faulty goods.
