Bought this TV last time it was on offer. Really pleased with it, would definitely recommend people buying it.
#3
Great price and that, but unless used as a monitor, whats the point of a small 1080p tele?

No point really, but its a sales gimmick isnt it

Could be used as for a PS3, or in my case a 360.

Just got a laptop with a blu-ray player last week, so the 1080p would be very welcome for me.

Think I just saw this TV in my local Tesco for £165 - there were two running together joined with a HDMI
splitter and they were running video from a Toshiba upscaling dvd player.

I have to say I was pretty inpressed with the quality of output ! the light on splitter was showing 1080p

Saw this while looking for stuff about the TV, sounds good!

Good points:

- Good looking and solidly built set
- Wide range of connectivity
- Sharp and clear image for all inputs
- Good menu system and easy auto-configure
- Solid colours with no noticeable artefacts or tearing
- Very good contrast, better than advertised ratio suggests
- No noticeable input lag via HDMI

Bad points

- Poor sound quality with no audio out
- Only one HDMI socket
- Stand could be more solid
- Very slight light leakage along top and bottom edges of panel
- Not possible to calibrate colour in VGA mode
- Can be quite bright when used as a monitor unless adjusted

:viking: no, thanks

i like the look of this but with so many TV DEALS out there which is the best one?
only want to use it for my PS3;-)

any suggestions?

i think the sound is great for a small lcd tv. I keep having to tell my son to turn it down and its only ever on low!

I have been after this TV for my bedroom for a while so this is an excellent deal and price. Voted hot and rep added! :-D

The following post on AV Forums tells you all you need to know about this TV and it's settings!

Yeah - it's a little bewildering, isn't it?

I'm looking to buy a 19 to 22" LCD for the bedroom - but it's a bit of a toss up (ahem) between this set, the LG from Argos and the cheap and cheerful Grundig (also from Argos - I think). Hopefully someone will now point out an even BETTER deal.

This UMC does look great, and the comments on Reevoo are all pretty positive: 8.9 out of 10 from over 200 reviews.

Can I just say that UMCs are awful.
#18
Hi ,

Are you sure this does not have Audio, out I thought it had an audio out jack which goes to
twin phono cable that is in the box.

This was the reason I didn't but one before as I got a non-hdmi 360.

Thanks
JJ

yeah jack jumpin it does have an audio out jack, i have this tv connected to my non HDMI 360, pic is fab, sound goes high to... worth the money

Sure - you can say it...although it would probably help if you could tell us WHY they're so awful - especially when all the reviews for this TV (Reevoo / AV Forums etc) seem pretty good.

Usually I just lurk about here, but I have joined up specifically to warn you all off this TV!

Spotted this in a previous deal, and at first glance and usage it IS a good telly, nice crisp picture, but even having starting using it with lowered contrast/brightness settings we watched ONE 4:3 aspect ratio program on the WDTV connected via HDMI, lasting all of 42 minutes and I had the black lines down the side of the screen permenantly - screen burn after 42 minutes, absolutely unacceptable! Watching football on it afterwards was the worst, clearly when the camera panned the black lines where the 4:3 border sat was glaringly visible.

Has been sent back and refunded, screen burn on an LCD after 42 minutes viewing (and at lowered than normal contrast/brightness levels) -

We have 3 of these at work, all with built in DVD, I would avoid them like the plague. The dvd only recognises original discs (and its a bit funny with them!!) before anyone chips in on piracy, we use writables for our demo's, but I also copy our dvd's for our little un to save replacing expensive scratched originals, for that reason I would say go separates!!

I actually bought the same TV but with built-in DVD directly from the manufacturer/distributor, Sky Media UK, for £149 delivered! It's not available on the website though, you have to phone 0871 2000 463 and select option 0 to speak to a human.

Sadly mine (which arrived on Friday) has a fault with the right speaker, so I'll be calling on Monday to arrange a replacement. Apart from the fault, I think it's a great TV for the price.

I have the M228WD and I'm reasonably happy with it - good picture (the inbuilt freeview isn't great but thats to be expected), reasonable sound but there is no sound output unfortunately.

It also has a habit of crashing about once a month and the HDMI occasionally cuts out for a split second every 10 minutes or so until you disconnect then reconnect the tv - again about once a month. Weird as I had never heard of a tv crashing before (it could just be my one) but its not really an issue!

I have one of these and would add the following observations.

As a TV...
Real 16:9 aspect ratio (Most 22" TV's are 16:10)
Freeview sensitivity very good.
Analog sensitivity poor
Despite innummerable attempts cannot get quite as good a picture (contrast/clarity) on freeview as on other cheapo 22" TV (albeit 16:10)

As a monitor
Stunning at 1920x1080 (DVI out via HDMI convertor to HDMI in on UMC)
Problem is that picture settings for use as as monitor are different to those required for use as TV and since there is only one universal "Personal" setting I would be forever changing the settings as I switched backwards and forwards. None of the other 4 manufacturer set fixed preset alternatives comes anywhere near the optimum in either mode of use.

Seems my earlier post disappeared??!!

The UMC 22" with built in DVD is a totally different beastie. Different pixel resolution, lower contrast...etc. The TV which is the subject of this deal is a totallty different model.

The one I bought over the phone - the 22/17-F-DVD - is 1080p and 1000:1 contrast ratio and looks the same as illustrated - the only difference is the built in DVD player as far as I can see :)

Just thought I should point something out - I spoke to Sky Media today and they told me that the TV I'd received was refurbished/Grade A stock rather than brand new - something they neglected to mention when I purchased it which is a little naughty... I guess this would explain the price disparity.

Can anyone tell me what the supported resolution is via VGA ?

I'm considering getting one of these:thumbsup:

Just received mine today and have my 8800 GT plugged in via VGA with 1920 x 1080 resolution :)
Played Tomb Raider Underworld and it looked amazing!
As posted else where sound doesn't exactly blow your socks off but is functional with plenty of volume.

Can't comment on the TV side as mainly using it as a PC monitor and for my games consoles when I travel.

For under 150 quid after discount and quidco can't fault it at all! :)

I picked this up instore for the spare room and PS3 usage.

Im not disapointed, the picture is great although as usual the presets are all wrong. The sound isnt too bad at a low volume with treble decreased and bass notched up abit.
