Do people actually buy UMD's? Why not back up a DVD to MPEG4 on Memory Stick Duo?

I buy them! My partner is very lazy with watching movies in MPEG4, i backed up all his movies for him but he still likes watching the umds better. Easier option i guess! great deal thanks:thumbsup:

I'm surprised there isn't a DivX player for PSP so far

Update: Looks like there's a software called PSPlayerMT that allows DivX playback on PSP :)

I have tried in vain to get output from TV onto my PSP without success - any tips on the best way to rip from DVD or TV? I have sony media manager for PSP, and have also tried with PSP Video 9. It's driving me mad!
£10 for three UMDs is not a bad offer though.......

How much space does your average movie take up on your stick?

i read not so long ago that umd films are going to be phazed out in the near future , it all comes down to the cost of making them an poor overall sales .

I've been doing a lot of reading up in web forums etc over the past coupla days on the best ways and programs to convert DVD/TV shows to PSP

I've had the best success using pspvideo9

Also, if you have the latest 3.30 (or 3.40) firmwares then you can get video on your PSP at higher resolution (the full 480x272 pixels)

You can also try converting your video to .pmp files and then use a program called Xvid4PSP

I tried PMPplayerMT but it didn't seem to like any of the videos I threw at it

PMPplayerMT plays divx but only ickle ones, it has a problem if they are more than about 10 meg. really good program tho - plays a lot of mp4s that the normal thing refuses to recognise and can play wmvs etc. Its been a long time since i t was updated, they could prolly sort that by now

just use CloneDVD mobile

I use a program called PSP movie creator which is easy to use and lets you choose your own output size. I have found that you can go as low as 400MB and still have decent quality movies. Send me a PM with your email address if you would like to know more...;-)
