Probably a year and a half until the Xbox 720 also.
The current console prices reflect the age and decrease over time. New consoles will probably be £500 at first...
That just means it's going to be a lot cheaper now. Also doubles as a blu-ray player with internet TV. Games are also cheap as hell these days. Why no? :P

If I were you I would at least play Uncharted 2 first.
My antivirus, Microsoft Security Essentials, threw a wobbly on the Simply website in IE and warned about Exploit:HTML/IframeRef.AA. Didn't get it in Firefox.
