Unibody apple mac mini £539.00 @ amazon

Just hunting round for a new mini mac. Came across this at amazon it's the same price at the apple higher education store but this should be available to everyone. I know you could also build something more powerful for less but the build quality, coolness and silence of these are great. I plan to use mine as an xbmc htpc.

Thanks,

Gondola

Good price for a Mac Mini, but a bit expensive for an XBMC HTPC when I've been using an Acer Revo 3600 and its not had any problems with any videos I've thrown at it, and you can buy the R3610 (newest version) for under £300, and it too is silent, looks good and is of very good quality.

I cannot make the link to amazon work sorry, the address is too long on the form. I assume the cold votes are for that rather than the fact its apple and very over priced. Why do people who don't like apple always get involved on these posts? I can't stand gardening but don't go posting how expensive gardening deals are in comparison to putting a patio down.

I love my mac mini. I just use it with the tv to watch downloads and nip into hotdeals when the hubby's on the big comp :)

Just used this to replace my Revo. This will also do a few other things as well, such as run PVR software in the background (and be able to encode on the fly to send my iphone) and run my network storage. I sometimes found the Revo a little choppy on playback but this was usually fixed with a reboot, perhaps if I had been brave enough to persevere with the live/linux version of XMBC it may have been better.

Preferred the pre-unibody designs when these were fair value for money. Not any more. However, good to see that Amazon is discounting Apple hardware like its US site has done for yonks.

Probably because Mac fans get all uptight when anyone dares to post anything that is not rosy about apple, so people vote cold because they don't like being told not to post!

That's what I use, but then not using it for PVR etc, or streaming to iPhone as I have no need in my house to do that, or on the move.
