The only thing to watch out with this is the charger doesn't "sense" when battery is fully charged which can lead to overcharging and potentially damaging the batteries. On reading the instructions it just seems to be a timer
http://www.uniross.com/upload/def/C0110334%20IM%20XP300_5.pdf

I have one similar to this but if you switch it off then on again it recharges the already charged batteries for another 9 hours etc

I've been comparing the charger to this one here
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=101054
which says it has a chip to prevent overcharge.

Anyone a battery expert who can give advice?
#8
Not an expert, but don't things like DECT phones 'overcharge' all the time without problems?
#9
"Overcharging" only harms batteries when the battery can't get rid of the extra energy (heat) quick enough.

A 9 hour charger is basically a trickle charge, so it doesn't matter if its left on too long, the batteries will just bleed off the excess as heat.

A 4 hour, or 1 hour charger can destroy a battery if left on too long.
#10
Not sure why this is called "Express" since it takes 9 hours to re-charge the batteries.

Bought one of these from Jessops (about £15.00) early last year.....especially for digital camera which would eat batteries of rate of 2 after only 20-30 shots and zoom!

This charger is the dogs............batteries always ready and still seem to hold charge very well...oh and the money saving on conventional batteries is outstanding!

Good Find

I was in TJ Hughes last weekend and saw Uniross charger, charges 4 AA batterries, supplied with 6 batteries for £5. I bought one and thought it was good bargain.

Damn, we're actually looking for a battery charger, as my gf's son plays his Nintendo Wii constantly and requires 4 batteries when he plays with his friends on a regular basis.

We're looking for a quick charger for 4 batteries but 9 hours is definately too long, i mean my gf's son would be annoyed that he would have to wait until the following day to continue an important part of the game and buying extra batteries would make the charger quite expensive when compared to some chargers that come with 4 batteries included and can be charged simulateously.

i have got a couple of these and so have family as they are really fast. only problem i ever had was dropped it and broke the lid but still worked. you can also get additional batteries for £2.99 with free case here
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=100592

delivery is £3.95 so you do need to buy all things at once but i usually stick a couple of packs of batteries when i order as find something else i need them for and son uses camera every day

i had the uniross one and it overheated as put it in overnight but prefer to have batteries ready in a couple of hours

Hi, does anyone know where I can get a charger just like this but lightweight? I got one of these a month ago but it is rather heavy and I needto take it with me travelling. Many thanks

Following above links I found this one in 7dayshop. Is this a good one? 15min, with individual charging channel and auto shutdown? £14.75.

Sounds very good, but I am not sure.

Actually, anybody can provide a link/site to a comprehensive battery charger review ?

Bought one of these recently
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=101271

Its great, fast charger, cuts back to trickle charger when full and can even discharge batteries. it also comes with a car lead for when you're on the move.

Amazon.co.uk is showing as one possible seller (on the right) for a price of £7.29. I added one to my my basked and it came up add £7.xx for free super saver delivery.

Possibly it's not listed as the first choice as stock is showing as 1-2 weeks whilst the marketplace sellers state in stock.

No problem, at the time of the pm though Amazon themselves were selling it at £6.18 as mentioned in the post above mine (but I didn't read that post until afterwards :P) - looks like they didn't think they should be selling it that cheap now then :whistling:

Ordered on the 11th and it came today. But slightly worried as the package was slightly open and no sign of my sd card (purchased it to get to the magic 15). Just have the charger. Hopefully it will turn up as the estimate is 16th - 18th! Its just that when i checked on "wheres my stuff" it said it will arrive in one package.

If it were me, I'd probably contact them and check.
