Is it me, or does that look like 2 AAs strapped together?

It is but has a plastic clip which trips the trigger inside the camera to allow recharging. I use a piece of card under two AA's in mine. This the battery for the Kodak Camera Fiasco of a few years ago.

Ahh nice :)
Good price anyway, saves the hassle of bypassing it!

You would be better off to get some ordinary rechargeable AA batteries, it would certainly be cheaper.

Example: 7-day shop
either
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=107341
or
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=100592

The difference is that the "Good to Go" batteries do not loose charge when stored, and the other does but has a higher mA..
