Plus Bus are offering unlimited travel on participating buses and trams around the whole urban area of most towns in the UK for just £1 this June.

If you haven't heard of Plus Bus it's basically an add on ticket to a standard rail ticket that gives you a discounted day rider pass for the buses in your destination town.

In a lot of towns Plus Bus, which normally costs around £3 a day, works out far better value than buying an ordinary day rider off the bus driver or from the local PTE office if you've already traveled into your destination town by train, although some towns are better covered than others so check your town's coverage first.

Plus Bus is accepted by most major bus operators such as First, Stagecoach and Arriva etc.

The discounted £1 tickets are for online bookings.

Yeah it's slowly catching on. This offer is of course online only but when you go to buy them at a station it's often a good idea to jot down the Plus Bus destination code for your town, as a lot of rail staff don't know them and may spend ages looking for them and ringing people up! Having the code on hand will speed things up. The codes are all listed on site on the respective page for each town. For example Manchester's (NLC) Plus Bus destination code is J819 - MANCHSTNS+BUS.

Try entering just Bournemouth (shortcode BMH) and keep going through the booking until you get to travel options where you will have the chance to add Plusbus - just tried with the date of June and the price of £1 did pop up.

What if you already have your season ticket, are you excluded from the offer? or can you just buy the plusbus online if you quote your ticket number? I suspect I am excluded, but begs the question. Good find. Heat added.

Wait, so I could just buy a monthly 'plusbus' thingy for my daily to commute to work and back in London (normally £2.40) for just £1.60 a day?

Anyone?

Yes If the area is covered by Plus Bus, there are a few towns that are included around London, then you can get a train into the place then have unlimited bus travel with Plus Bus when you get there.

I've just tried to add a plusbus to a southern railway journey and it has come up as more than £1.
So, I checked out the Plusbus.info website and it states that not all operators are in on the scheme - southern railway are not participating.
The following list are the operators that are in the scheme:
www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk
www.chilternrailways.co.uk
www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk
www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk
www.firstcapitalconnect.co.uk
www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk
www.nationalexpresseastanglia.co.uk
www.qjump.co.uk
www.scotrail.co.uk
www.southwesttrains.co.uk
www.thetrainline.com
www.tpexpress.co.uk
www.virgintrains.co.uk
I don't think that the deal should be expired.

At the end of the day, many of the websites link back to the Trainline website. It would probably be the best site to start on to determine if the deal were available on your route/station. :)
