Just logged in to my Amazon account and there is a new banner for something called Prime Reading. Basically, loads of books you can read for free as part of yor Prime membership. This appears to be separate to the one loan book you have always been abe to get from the lending library.

Seems to be a similar concept to the Prime Music vs Music Unlimited?

I know people do this, but... REALLY???

It's a funny old world ain't it, my gran used to love listening to hymes being sung. Can't think of anything worse. My mates like watching golf, jees it's just hitting a ball, tedious. I like watching poker, mental it's just watching someone play cards. My dad was watching someone swimming that other week, what a waste of time.

It's all subjective mate,, we just watch what we like and enjoy it for our own reasons.

Some good stuff there - including Harry Potter, Star Wars comics, the new Bourne book - but quite a lot of dross. The magazines might be the best thing; get to sample something you never normally would.

You've got a restriction of only 10 items 'lent' at a time but you can 'return' anything whenever you want.

More emporer's new clothes for £79 Amazon Prime mugs rip-off

I don't believe £6.50 a month is excessive for what Prime offers - a tonne of high quality original content video programming, a pretty decent selection of free music, fast delivery including same day delivery on many items, free unlimited photo storage etc etc. Prime is probably one of the best value subscriptions out there; Amazon actually maintain this price point at a significant loss in order to make money on the sale of their products and services.

Hell I have a subscription to Time and National Geographic which together cost more than the annual Prime subscription; looks like I can cancel that now!

The other day I built a cheapo Raspberry Pi Alexa and it works perfectly.

Happy days.

This selection of magazines is similar to what is on offer via Zinio from local libraries so I'm guessing that they are offered as a job lot and are likely to stay much the same.

thanks for this have now researched and joined Zinio which I was unaware of. Basically if you are a member of your local library you can use it to geta similar set of mags online FOC. So can I suggest that anyone interested and perhaps not a prime member looks at this see https://www.rbdigital.com/help/zinio-faq

Thanks OP looks good to me and heat added accordingly. Do people think that the same magazines will continue month by month or is it a one off trial to get you 'hooked' to say 'Improve your Coarse Fishing' (sorry.... couldn't resist and it is one of the magazines on offer!)?

I'm guessing you won't get a regular supply of magazines, based on this...

Every month we choose a selection of top magazine issues for you to enjoy as part of your Prime membership.

Thanks ,I love books and have Prime , wow even more books and mags ,quite a few choices as well as the amazing novel... Stone Man by Luke Smitherd ! I already have this and it is one that I would highly recommend ,THE #1 AMAZON BESTSELLER, SHORTLISTED FOR AUDIBLE UK'S BOOK OF THE YEAR 2015 AWARD
"THE STONE MAN is a novel that intrigues, enthralls, horrifies, thrills, and hits the reader with an emotional resonance as only the best stories can."

Nope. Only some stuff will work on kindle app. Magazines and some books you need a kindle device

Very good! I see "PC Pro" there - so I can cancel my existing subscription to it!
#31
I've just gone into Empire magazine & I get this page.

Note it says that seems to say reading it will start a subscription with a 30 day free period.

It says "Subscribers read this issue for free " so it may be that you only get one issue to read. I'd be surprised if they let you have the whole subscription

No, you don't - I just downloaded and started reading a comic and magazine on my iPhone Kindle app.

You must be in the wrong section or something

I'm probably being thick, but when I click the Prime Reading banner it just takes me to a page with 2 paragraphs about joining Amazon Prime.

I'm looking for a "Prime Reading-eligible book & magazine list" but can't seem to find it???

Edit. Never mind - I see there is a new filter button for "Prime reading eligible"!

Saw this this morning and together with Alexa now being able to read these books out loud I couldn't be happier.
