it says 2-M cable in the title on the link mate so i'm guessing its wired :) but still not bad!
#2
yeah but it looks like the cable is detachable so it must be wireless

My money is on it having to have the cable plugged in to work

make it look wireless you mean.
you never know with this bloomin stuff:roll:

Is a PS2 controller to PS3 adapter not a better idea if it has to be wired. At least you know the quality and might have them anyway, or pick them up for nowt. The number of times my kids walk on an upturned Sony PS3 controller makes me think that a cheap alternative won't last long.
#6
for this price I think that you need the cable to play :)
but there is an other one on the site (10.20$) compatible with PC
#7
I think it would be safer buying a second hand official ps2 controller and then getting a lead to use it on the ps3. I certainly wouldn't risk buying something like this without there being any reviews on dealextreme.
#8
My brother had one of these when he had a ps3 and it was shockingly bad!
#9
The lead will look detactable as most of the wired controllers have snap off parts so if you walk into / pull to hard on the cable it detaches to stop the cable or the USB breaking.

Try and get him to write a review on dealextreme to warn off other buyers.

So has anyone bought one of these? I don't think I'm that keen if it's not wireless. I've got an unofficial one off ebay already that can be detached, but it only works wired. It works fine, but there's no dualshock.
#12
It's definately a wireless pad, all PS3 pads are wireless
The usb leads only carry a power signal, even when plugged in the pad is still wireless (much like the wireless 360 ones)
ballyball - if your pad only worked when plugged in then I assume it had no battery in it and was only powered by the usb

Well the replier above you seems to disagree
#14
Ah, I see what you mean, it works wirelessly but needs to be wired in to work!!!

Yep they are wired, I've had one, you need to lead plugged in for it work. I have recently got a dualshock/sixaxis/wireless PS3 pad copy from the flebay for around £13 delivered feels and works just like the original it's perfect saves paying £30+ for an original one.

NO IT'S NOT! People please don't take this comment, I have one it's NOT wireless you need to have it plugged in! It simply does not have a bluetooth chip in it so impossible to be wireless!

Man I'm sick of these Johnny Knowitalls who clearly don't know it all.

THESE CONTROLLERS ARE NOT WIRELESS.

I REPEAT, THEY ARE NOT WIRELESS.

To be fair, it does say on the overview:

"Plug and play"

:D
#19
I bought the exact same one a while back. I plugged it into my USB port and the x, o, triangle and square buttons don't work. I had it replaced and it was the same. Apparently sony have blocked them due to being fakes.

I hot a cheap controller in store at ASDA, it's wireless but needs a USB dongle to be plugged in all the time, and it doesn't charge like the originals but it was only £7 it's got to be a better bet than these things. Why not take a look in your nearest ASDA store???

PS3 and 360 both can use USB pads as well as their wireless connections. Do you think the Official 360 USB pads have a wireless transmitter sat in them doing nothing? Or that Madcatz the Officially Licensed SF4 pads have a USB RF dongle as well as Bluetooth connection on the PS3?

If you have an opinion on something you should maybe ask the question rather than confuse people with incorrect statements of fact. "Aren't all PS3 controllers wireless?" would have been much better.

As to the deal, my guess is that these pads will be rubbish as Deal Extreme aren't known for their quality copies (check the WiiMote reviews, etc). If you want to make up 4 pads for when guests visit then they will do a job, but fully expect them to blame the pads when you beat them.

Yeah I have one of those got it from fleabay for about £13/14 delivered, it's fantastic I've not had any problems with the sticks or buttons as some review suggest, can't beat it for the money I paid at that price you can afford to buy a few extras for mates etc.
#26
End of the day you will get what you paid for.
#27
I tried loads of unofficial pads on my PS2, none of them could get close to the Sony original. I ended up buying some second hand official pads, they still worked better than most copies.

I agree with Ricz, you get what you pay for.

Other than littlebigplanet.... are there any decent 4 player games out anyway to make it worthwhile purchasing extra controllers? Most PS3 bundles come with 2 controllers by default.

I looked into this previously but settled on an Orb PS2>PS3 adapter (with PS button) which I got from blockbuster for £7.99 - which I highly recommend BTW

I actually think that this is a much better buy than the BT version....

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.28646

It uses an RF dongle which you plug into the PS3's USB port

The advantage is that its more than £4 cheaper than the BT version and Sony can't disable it with future firmware upgrades (as has already happened at least once)

The disadvantage is that you lose a USB port

Really?

You haven't been looking at the bundles I have then?

To be honest, it is very rare, that ps3 bundles includes more than one controller (you will find more often 3 games in a bundle, but only one controller).

Usually between one and three weeks, although DE have been known to 'lose' parcels with frightening regularity.

I've placed loads of orders with them over the years, never lost a parcel yet - touch wood.

Normally arrives in about a week if in stock?
#37
If anyone gets one and is willing to crack one open I would be interested to know if these uses the same springs for and analogue triggers as the official SONY Dualshock 3 controllers. Those dam springs don't last five minutes and buying faulty controllers from ebay isn't terribly cost effective.
#38
Mine arrived this morning - it doesnt charge so I'd say its definitly wired (odd that the USB cable disconnects...)
Seems ok to me - not played games with it yet, but thus far it does the job and nothing seems a-miss... :)
#39
If the USB cable disconnects it means you have a bonus USB lead :)

Or maybe it means they don't have to worry about integrating that part. All sounds promising though...
