Unreal Tournament 3 (PC) - £7.19 Delivered!

Incredible deal for this superb game! Online play is so addictive! I used to play the original UT years ago and playing the new spruced up version of 'deck16' certainly brings back the memories!

Unreal Tournament players assume the role of a futuristic warrior engaged in contests of intense battles against skilled opponents, controlled either by human contestants online or by A.I. Fought with the most powerful sci-fi weapons and vehicles, Unreal Tournament III is FPS action at its best!

Use the code 'STUDENT10%' for 10% off £7.99 for £7.19 delivered.

hot but such a flop you wont find many players online at all, sometimes 9 worldwide playing capture the flag, so sad.

And only the super leet play destroying all fun for noobs.

D.

9 playing worldwide?! That can't be true surely. There are usually more than 9 players on Hamachi alone playing this.
#3
Good price, although I paid £12 for the Collector's Edition a few months ago (from a seller on here!)
Excellent game, although as dapunk says, there aren't as many people online as you'd expect. Hopefully loads of people will pick it up at this low price!
It's also a shame that not that many maps and mods have been made for it.

Not any more... New stuff has hit the net in the past few days!

This is a super hot deal, buy it if you have any interest in fps online shooters. This is the BEST game I have ever played

#7
dont get why this was such a flop!

voting hot cos it looks awesome, worth way more than 7.20 had a quick blast on the ps3 one online and it was alrite

You have to play this game with a mouse a keyboard to appreciate the superquick gameplay that UT is designed for.

PC version ftw :)

PC version ftw :)

PS3 version had mouse lag on this game and made it to slow to play with anything other than joypad, for some reason this has not crossed over well to the PS3 console, only time will tell (JULY) if the Xbox 360 version game play has been improved which is where the PS3 version went wrong..

"According to reliable information sources, the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will be fully compatible against the PC version; similar to what it's like with Shadowrun or Final Fantasy XI."

This means there should be lots more people online soon! Not sure how gamepad players will play against mouse and keyboard players though?
#11
benjones, I hope that what you say isn't true as microsoft appears to insist that every game that is cross compatible between pc and xbox 360 online has windows live support (the thing you pay yearly for). Also, pc users vs 360 users would be a bit unfair, gamepad vs mouse lol.

UT2003 rocked, UT2004 was the first UT I played and it was basically just UT2003 with upgradez :D

Just been doing some more research and it looks like you're right - it wont be cross compatible. Shame coz we could have pwned 360 players :)

Yeah I have to say, the maps in UT3 are too over-decorated for my tastes, they dont seem to have the same playability either. UT3 is very nice graphically, but I was really disappointed with the level design and maps - so much so Ive been downloading user-created maps in search for something similar to UT2003/4, but without much luck yet.
#16
Meh - it all got **** after UT99 imo
#17
I'm of the Quake variety, but can't pass up such a good deal. Thanks.

That's what I thought until I tried the full version of UT3 on a decent spec PC - have you actually tried it?
#19
I actually haven't tried it, but I tried UT2003 & UT2004 and hated them - I suppose I ought to try UT3, bit of a waste using a Quad Core 8800GTX PC for a 9 year old game!
#20
Yeah I also went off UT when 2003 and 2004 came out - UT3 is much more like the original though. Try it on the classic DM, TDM, CTF modes and I bet you'll be converted :)
#21
Ive played them all, since the original unreal.....playing rocket arena at 2am on the rockemhard servers located in the US against USA/Canadian players with a ****** old 33 bps modem and a ping that would scare the living jeebers out modern UK multi loving PC gunners and I still used to own the best of em :)

Got really into UT99 as I had previous experience with unreal I could already dodge combo ect. So managed to be quite ahead of most players...played 99 for something like 6 years lol played 2k3 but didnt like it much so waited for 2k4 played it and onslaught had me hooked till i got bored of the general maps and aimbotting.

Gotta say UT3 has gone back to the old formula the maps are better although far few and between, there needs to be more, "suspense" reminds me so much of "face" how you can sniper off the top of the towers and armor/sniper rounds camp.

Overall been a Unreal/Tournament fan for a long long time and the series imo is the best at what it does its just a shame that people nowadays prefer their BF's and COD's as in simulation.

Was asked for a NUS number (required field) upon checkout but entered 111111111111111111 (18 digits) which was successful so far. Have to wait and see if this will cause problems later. Great deal. Thanks.

Or use Google Checkout and it doesn't ask you at all :whistling:

It's no way near as compelling at UT2004. I'll start playing UT3 again when there's a fully complete Invasion RPG mode. At this price you'd be crazy not to pick it up though.

I can run at nearly max settings on my laptop, which is only a modest 1.6ghz Core Duo, dedicated 256mb X1600 and 2gb RAM.
#27
I was gonna wait for the xbox 360 version but for 7.19! ill get this for the time being!
I think there will be more online since the price drop! see you online for some frags!!

What's new? The latest thing on there is the v1.2 +4 trainer (7th May). If anything that just further proves the lack of things being produced for the game, as the v1.2 patch came out on 21st Feb, so it took almost 3 months for a simple trainer to be updated.

The second latest thing is a benchmark test (16th April) and before that the Bonus Pack (27th March) which I have, and it's good, but would be better if more people were playing on it.

I got really excited the other day when I saw a snowboarding mod advertised and thought 'Yay! People are finally making stuff for UT3!', then realised it was for the PS3.

But it's not just the lack of maps and mods - it's the lack of players. I quite like being part of the hardcore, dedicated group of UT3 players as you end up playing with the same people over and over again and get to know (and like or dislike!) them. However it gets annoying when you can't find a server to play on because all the decent ones are full and the rest have only 1-2 people on them, and as I'm not on it that often I feel left behind - all the hardcore players are now l33t and the rest are n00bs, with nothing in between.

I was a huge fan of the original UT and played it to death. I don't know what went wrong with UT2003 - it went all shiny and cheesy, loosing the gritty feel of gladiatorial combat. Kudos to Epic, though, who listened to the criticisms of 2003 and made 2004 based on community feedback - it managed to be an excellent compromise between UT and 2003, restoring old game modes and creating new ones, and remaking old maps. It was really popular and endless mods and maps were made for it - by the developers, semi-professionals and, ahem, some obviously amateurs. :p

Personally I thought it was still a bit too bright, so I was happy to see screenshots of UT3 before its release that made it look like Epic were going for an atmosphere more like their Gears of War, and it really is quite like that. I really thought cross compatibility would be an excellent idea, because there's a huge console user base out there and as consoles become more like PCs both in specification (the 360 and PS3 are about as powerful as an average PC) and in features (multimedia, hard drives and internet services now all as standard) you'd expect to see better interaction across platforms. It's not really coming to fruition though - apparently Microsoft were more willing to have the 360 version of UT3 support map and mod creation and be compatible with the PC version (which is possibly why it's taking longer for the 360 version to come out), whereas Sony were less willing, despite the PS3 being more capable.

Anyway, despite the game being less popular than hoped for, it's still an excellent game - gorgeous graphics, varied and addictive gameplay, certainly well worth £7.19 and hopefully we'll see more addons released for it making it even greater value!

I used to play UT2004 quite a lot, wasn;t much good but did OK :) I'd like to get this but after my experience of buying Motogp 07 and my pc not even running it I'm a bit concerned this won't work either. I have a p4 3gh, 2gb ram and a 256mb geforce, old fx card. You think it will run ok?

The game is nicely scaleable. I run it on a dual core with 2GB ram and a 6600GT (128MB) and although it only ends up looking slightly better than UT2004 at times, it's still smooth. Try the demo if you want to be sure!
#31
Min specs are 2ghz CPU, 512mb RAM, nvidia 6200/ATI 9600 graphics card

Recommended specs are 2.4ghz dual core CPU, 1gb RAM, nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1300 graphics card

So you should be fine, depends on your graphics card though - what model number is it? The amount of RAM it has is less important than the GPU speed. If it has 256mb RAM though, chances are it's at least as good as the min specs.
#32
red hot at this price !

agree with others comments on UT3, too few maps and too few average players online,
we can only hope it improves

For a real good time get UT2004 and get online, loads of players and map mods

They could, I hear compatibility with those is hit and miss though unfortunately. Also they seem to be at least £70 everywhere and I doubt many people would want to spend that much.
#34
Can you make and rename bots to just play in arenas and stuff like the original UT?
#35
Has anyone's order turned up yet? I bought mine over a week ago now and still no show.
