The British Meat trade is the most regulated in the world. When the BSE outbreak happened here in Britain the EU banned export of British Beef, yet the the French had BSE in their cattle at that time! Their regulation was less rigorous than ours and still is. The EU did NOT impose a ban on Beef export from France! The real joke is that even when the EU lifted the ban on British Beef export the French ignored the ruling and continued its own illegal ban on British Beef for seven more years and claimed their cattle were disease-free!!!!! France has NEVER paid the TENS OF MILLIONS OF POUNDS in EU fines for persisting with the embargo. President Jacques Chirac said in 2003 that the only thing Britain had given European farming was mad cow disease! That's the good old EU and French for ya!
