Yeah that's what I thought but always worth a share. Totally agree, the parts on those bikes can be really good for the price (FSA, Rockshox and Sram). Wouldn't mind another to be honest!

Hi everyone. I'm looking to buy my first road bike with a budget of around £500. I am considering the B'twin Triban 520 from Decathlon because it seems to be a great entry level bike with good reviews. Is there a bike in the Boardman range that's comparable to the B'twin? What are peoples preferences?

As previously mentioned I did own a Boardman hybrid bike and they are fantastic but after having a hybrid I wanted the drops of a road bike. So I actually replaced it with a B'twin 500SE and I absolutely love it. Yes the parts aren't as good but for the price (and for my first road bike) it's great. One of my friends has the 520 (after I recommended Decathlon) and I am slightly jealous that he has Shimano Sora groupset but the Claris isn't too bad. It works for me. A comparable Boardman would probably be this: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/boardman-road-sport-bike looks pretty good and has a few FSA bits on it.

I got the boardman limited edition black and yellow roadie with carbon forks. Paid £425 for it and I think you can pick it up for another £350 now if they have it in stock. Hasn't failed me and had it July 2015. Highly recommend this bike

How did you get it for £425?

It was £500 then reduced to £425 with 15%off sale, fair play to halfords girl she said told me to wait a few days until the sale started before I picked up the bike that way I get the discount

Great looking bike. Sadly 0 stock at the moment. I'll definitely check back on this before I commit to bying the B'twin.
